As i was off work i went for another little run today.
I was coming through one of the small villages which always has cars parked on the main street and the street is not very wide. There were no cars in my lane and my route was clear.
A car came out of a junction ahead (on the opposite side of the road i was travelling along) and just as i was getting towards the rear of the parked cars decided to pull out into my path.
I stopped and thankfully so did the car. The woman driving just glared at me as i sat there in front of her. I slowly move up beside her and in a very polite voice mentioned through her open window that i did believe that the highway code said that road users should only proceed if the road was clear and did not force other vehicles to take avoiding action. She looked at the kerb , which was full of debris, as if she expected me to scrape against the high kerb and go through all the crap at the side of the road to get out of her way. She then surprisingly said "yeah thats fair enough".
I was happy with her acknowledgementthat she was in the wrong. but then as she was saying those words she decided to add "but you are just a ****ing hooligan anyway"
Nearly fell off my bike in shock as i am in no way a hooligan. I asked what she said to have her shout at me "just f*** off you bloody hooligan"
now as i have said i am not a hooligan but anger took hold of me and i then became a hooligan because as she was driving away i punched her back window.
My bad !! :(

She sounds like a fool mate. Good job nothing happened and you're ok. However, I wouldn't have said anything. People like that won't learn from any polite advice you may give them. They just go on the defensive and block it out, hence her rudeness.
Best just to ride around her and be prepared to meet her again on the same junction if you're unlucky enough.

She was probably shook up and scared about nearly wiping you out mate so went on the attack to cover it up.
bloody cat killing road racer that you are.lol
was she a menopausal hag?
nice one Rick. don't let things like that get to you as it takes your concentration away. next time smile and say 'yes i am thanks but at least i'm not a stupid slag'.
i had a beemer driver give me the:toss: on sunday so i stuck the middle digit up at him which for some strange reason got him annoyed :D
you have to remember there are a lot of people out there that hate bikers.

Of course we are, it all stems from this

We all loose it sometimes, no matter how calm and collected we usually are

So true. This is why I make a conscious effort to thank people for giving me room, letting me out etc. plus return the favour whenever it's safe to do so. Trying to change opinion in my own pathetic way.

What a bitch Ricky. People do react funny when they're put in unexpected situations and on the spot, as widepants says, she probably just got defensive 'cos she felt bad.
Don't beat yourself up about it, you're one of the good guys, we all have moments :grouphug:

I'm the same, every little helps and all that. Doesn't stop me having the occasional spout of profanities at every pr1ck on the road though. Not like I can act on it much anyway

I've always been so tempted to reach in and nick an errant drivers keys, never had enough chance so far... one day...
Saw loads of it when I had a few mates who were despatching, language distilled down to the point where words are unnecessary and all communication is done with varying levels of criminal damage!

i been losing my temper all week on the bike. sick of other careless road users. there are alot of good drivers/ riders out there. but equally as many bad ones.
starting to realize the ignorance there is in this country on the roads.
everytime i get in a car or hop on the bike i dred the journey.

I am with you 100% on her being a complete b1tch, BUT...she called you a hooligan and then you punched her back window. If she is as nasty/stupid as she sounds, other bikers may pay the price as I doubt she will want to be too accommdating to bikes in future.

By't sounds on it she wasn't a massive fan of them in the first place! Rafe is a weakness, but at least it wasn't her face he punched. She might think twice about mouthing off to a biker again so swings and roundabouts I guess :p

I've only been bad once or twice. One time pulling a door and grabbing someone's keys before launching them into some bushes.
It's the red mist that a helmet brings and the brush that we are tarnished with. Your instantly tarnished as a **** and receive a different tone from drivers.
I tend to say/do my bit then ride down the road and park until the adrenaline wears off, don't ride with that **** going on!

I have seen the wife take out a wing mirror after some jerk pulled out on her and now the Step Son is doing it. As much as it made me laugh, it does worry me though, what is the old saying about two wrongs?
I am so rubbish in situations like this, I am more likely to just burst into tears than thump somebody, I get so embarrassed about being angry and hate confrontation, but it is nice to have the image of the hard biker to fall back on. :D
At least you enjoyed the rest of your ride and did not let the moronic actions of another person spoil you fun and she might have a nice dent to remember you by.

Really!
Your best response should have been;
"Madam, if I were a hooligan I'd have pulled an ugly fat slag through that window, forcibly raped said ugly fat slag up the wrong 'un over the bonnet of your car, found out where she lived and gone there to do the same to her first-born before setting fire to her house with her family in it. Luckily I am not a hooligan and that ugly fat slag is spared such nastiness... this time"
