i have a 1999 sv650, 13300 miles and was riding at a good pace when the tacho died, it then blew the head light and when i tried to catch up with my friend the whole engine cut out and died at the side of the road.

the battery was smoking hot, the bike wouldnt start whatsoever, the AA man put his battery pack on it and lights (apart from the one that blew) worked indicators and brake lights worked includint the odometer, it tried starting but never ignighted the spark. the starter motor workedand it tried my but never fired up.

Any thoughts on how to fix it, it is 130 miles away in a garage so need to think of everything before i set off to fix it? has this happened to anyone else.

here is a link to the video of the incident.... No i was not doing 180mph thats where it started to go wrong

Sounds like a regulator/rectifier issue to me but I wouldn't take my word for it, I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Yeah. Sounds like overcharging badly. Hopefully it's just killed the battery or fuses and not the ICU.
