View Full Version : PC & mobile security following bank fraud
Following from this: http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?p=2751832#post2751832
My bank account got hacked, I'm using 2 pc's and an android to access the bank.
Both PC's are regularly scanned with malware and ad-aware, mobile's got Lookout security installed.
Can anyone recommend what checks to do and what software to use to stop this from happening again?
Cheers

Easy don't use Android.
The platform is full of vulnerabilities and the market place is infested with rogue apps "Its the beauty of open source" ;)

Personally I don't do banking on phone I don't feel I have enough control over the operating system etc.
Reasonably confident in using PC's for it though (ubuntu/XPP with various security). My only fraud problem was traced back to some dodgy little joe backi in a Bradford petrol station, no surprise there.
Thanks.
I was using the official app, but I'm guessing you mean other stuff installed on the phone.
Any other anti malware things or online antyvir scanners you can recommend?

Don't forget the basics like shred your statements hide your pin dont let waiters out of your sight with your card etc
Think I'll ditch the phone app, but both if you can :)

I recommended Microsoft security essentials for the PC's. I install this on my own machines and customers machines too.
Its free and lightweight and effective.
Don't know about the phones to be honest just be careful what you download.

Sounds familiar. I personally never use cards in petrol stations now. Not so bad on the bike but a pain when filling the car.
Dyz - the "don't use the phone" suggestions above get a +1 from me (or rather the deskside support guys at our place who have warned all company smartphone users not to have any personal details on their devices because of the inherent security weakness).
