View Full Version : Hein Gericke closing UK stores
After seeing some bar ends in HG a couple of weeks ago for £23 I looked on their website last week and saw that they had come down to £20, so popped in to their store in Coulsdon this afternoon to buy them.
On the window were a load of closing down sale posters. After chatting with the guy behind the counter he said that they are probably closing all stores in the country, although this hasn't been given the definate go ahead as yet. They will still be trading on the internet and are awaiting investors.
He said there will probably be a discount on the bar ends when he puts them through the till, and they came up at £13.99, so maybe there are plenty of bargains to be had. Might pop in tomorrow for some summer gloves.

Looks like they've gone into administration! Nasty.
Ah, so that's finally happened then?

Well actually it's really old news because a few months ago suspicions were discussed about them going under. Not too be picky or owt :p
Not everyone reads every single thread anyway so helps to alert people with new ones.

Saw and read that thread, but the title does not suggest anything amiss at HG so thought I would update with a thread that gives people that haven't seen that thread a heads up, and also just to let peeps now about savings to be had :thumleft:.

Sad state of affairs, its never nice to here of a brand going
Phonenix distribution was closed this year through the George White's collaspe (it was expected from a few people I spoke to post george white's going pop), which has made quite a few others struggle as a follow on
Phoned the Maidstone branch today, 20% off all leather jackets

Ohhhh, sorry I forgot, the protocol round here is for a popular joker amongst the members to shout Hitler......
I was merely pointing out politely, it was being discussed elsewhere, lots of others do the same with other threads, no different in my case.
Bugger! I can't believe they may go under. All of my kit is HG and I really rate it. Best get shopping. George White too! Double bugger.
(Btw DB I thought your post came across as just a little bit rude, no malice intended towards yourself).

You know me Monkey, just say, that's that, no beating of bushes, no rudeness intended. I know you mean no malice either.
I love our local HG store, especially the bloke who knows us by face, and what unusual bike I ride. Think it.must be to do with the likeness he has to the bassist from Queens of the Stone Age!!!!
Where will we buy 4l of oil for a tenner, or bargain goretex boots at right time right place?
Not in the shop next door Get Geared, they're miserable gits, might go to J&S, but they're grubby.

A grubby shop I could live with, it's that all the gear is "consumer grade" to put it politely or "cheap sh*t" to put it honestly that puts me off J+S!
Get Geared were sound with me when I was in there TBH.

J&S are ok if you know what you want. When you can't get the helmet you want in HG, but can find the same one, in the right size, cheaper in J&S opposite, ....I suppose I'll have to there.
When you trapse round all three, its funny how HG most often get your money....well ours anyway.

Not all but enough of mine is to warrant the highest percentage compared to other brands. It's the only thing I can buy online and know it will fit me, pretty hard going for a lass to do with bike gear these days!
Oh and J&S I wouldn't touch with a bargepole, only thing I've bought from there is a springy coil thing to attach to my disclock, I feel all dirty after I've been in there...must be all that leather!

Apparently they are only giving 10% or 20% discount on current stock.Certain suppliers have withdrawn stock[Sale and return]
Staff are waiting to find out on the 6th what the final outcome will be so then might be the time to get a bargain
Scuberth C3 still over £400 and considering it is being replaced next year not that cheap.
I will look in again on the 6th.

The receivers will surely want to make as much money as possible so won't allow silly discounting yet.
And I imagine most of the 3rd party stock will be sale or return.
If they are only closing UK stores then I guess the rest of the HG own brand may end up shipped to other stores in Europe.

I just went to one, the deals are pretty ****e. 30% off accessories, 10% off helmets, 20% off gloves and jackets. They don't even match the prices George White was selling at BEFORE it also went into administration.
I went today to use my £10 voucher + Free £10 for getting a Hein Gericke card, and reducing the price of some gloves from £35 to £15. These have both been abolished, and I only had the option of 20% off (the assistants can change nothing, not put the price up, nor down). Most of the other people in there were mumbling about there not actually being any deals better than before. Perhaps worth a visit if you're keen on 20% or 10% off some stuff, but I'm going to stick to looking online after what I've seen.

Maybe tis best as DT says and leave it til the 6th before you go hunting for bargains.
