So the weathers looking nice, the roads should be good and i think we would all enjoy some fish and chips down on the coast.

so Newlands meet from 10:30 and leaving at 11 on the dot.
lunch in brighton about 1ish depending on the pace.

and we even have an option of routes:
head down the a24 for a short blat and then my route
or
down through Cranleigh-Oakley then onto the a24 before jumping across to my route

long route is about 65miles of fast pace nice back roads excluding the a24 bit with the option to do devils dyke and a nice tunnel to really open it up through for the "grin factor" followed by lunch on Madeira drive#

Route back will involve a petrol stop on the m23 where we dive off at the back of devils dyke and follow some long sweeping roads back up towards horsham which will take just over an hour to reach box hill for a break and people can split and go their own ways.

Edit:
All in is just over 100miles with the option for an extra 5/10 mile addons in places if people fancy a good twisty one.

so whos in.

Now this sounds like fun. But I have to get myself de-gingered at 11am that day. Otehrwise I'd have been quite tempted and then headed on to Martianskippy's later for a burger.

Would love to come along.
But here's my issue, I've just traded my sv650s in for gsxr600 and have never ridden a IL4 before im picking up tomorrow and won't have much time to settle before going for a ride like that. Not so much the power or positon but the characteristics of the IL4 will take a few miles of alone riding to get comfy with my new bike and don't want to have to do a ride out with people until im settled.

So maybe at another time need to meet some of you guys/girls even though im not the sort of person to do these ride outs.

Hope who ever goes has fun. Fingers crossed for the weather. :D

You'll be fine chap. I just swapped to a GSXR750. First time I sat on one I did ... fast speeds. After I bought it and road it home, twas a doddle. Much easier to ride than the SV in my opinion. Plus any rideout with Brock at the front is suitable for mobility scooters and children on tricycles.

Maybe see how i get on no doubt it will be easier to ride but don't want to get ahead of myself want to settled and get comfy then do some longer rides.

Don't worry about pace. Fallout's so slow that when he had his rear-facing camera it got covered in squashed flies who had mistimed their overtakes.

Im on my zx6r aswell and only got it a few months ago. ride it around and even just pop along in the morning for a cup of tea We will take the long route round at a steady pace that suits everyone and can always bugger off before we head for brighton.

And lph when u say de gingered are you accepting gray in your old age??

Its not pace im worried about im no advanced veteren. i just ride and enjoy myself. But being a IL4 as i said above i have'nt ridden one before and need to settle at my own pace.

I'll see how i get on tommorow and friday then if im feeling confident i can enjoy myself and not have to foucs too much on riding my bike then i'll chat with my dad see if he'll give me a bit of money for petrol.

i'll let you know friday.

hello eveyone.
took abit of a tumble yesterday ( crappy pot holes with stones and rubble ) right on the cnorner of my road of all places as i was coming home!! bahhh.

feeling abit bruised and sore today so if its okay with everyone else if we can move the ride to sunday as im going to need a day or so to recover.

Littlepeahead

Wimp - I shattered my elbow and tried to ride my bike afterwards. The only thing that stopped me was having no clutch lever.

(Hope you are OK, big hugs and kisses)

And I'm not going grey. But my hair has gone very orange in the sunshine and I need to get it sorted out. At present I run the risk of the local zoo thinking their baby orang utan has escaped on a 650GS.

Damn Brock! Hope you are still in one piece. I may attend this on Sunday. Will see which other fools I can drag along with me.

Btw, my brakes are digital at the moment. They're on or off, probably due to sticking pistons. Would recommend nobody riding too close behind me. :)

Mikey10
10-08-12, 06:57 PM
Sorry to hear that.

On a diffrent note my bike broke down within the last 10 mins of my ride.

Few reasons battery just played up and went flat or somthing overheated and cause the battery to die. anyway jump start get home and all is normal again sop my dads to recreate the problem has flattend the battery to see if anything shows up and the dash lights went mental when i cut out.

got a warrenty so dads ring them up and get them out or pick up or work on it at my house but. not a positive start but the bike when runnignrides great so if all is well comke sunday i maybe be up for the ride.
Brake fluctuation aswell when featherignt he brakes at slow speed so hopefully get that sorted aswell.

apart from that im happy with the new bike.

i'll update my situation saturday evening.

Woohoo. Laurie on his new toy. DON'T DROP IT! ;)

@Brock - Have ordered a seal kit (not the clubbing type) so I can rebuild the callipers. May take you up on that offer when it arrives. Think I should do the rear too. That might as well not exist. After that I can tackle the other range of problems Laurie didn't spot. He promised to give me money for any hidden issues, but I'll believe it when I see it. About £1000 he owes me so far.

How many more times? They call them rear brakes but they're only there to add ballast. You know my opinion, remove rear brakes completely, reservoir, pipes, lever, calliper and disc and sell them to someone silly enough to buy it! Rear brakes are for panic stricken accident sufferers and those that can't hold their bike on a hill using the clutch. MOT is no prob's, if it aint on the bike they cant test it! I would do this to my bike, only I'm too lazy so mine is a WD40 filled mess that wouldn't work if you jumped on it!:smt018

Nathan, I thought better of you. Rear brakes are very important. How else are you going to do silly little skids? I for one would be gutted if I road over a small gravel road and couldn't lock up the rear wheel for a pathetic 2 foot skid to make myself feel mega cool.

newlands corner into google maps.
its just east of guildford town centre ontop of a hill on a corner of the A25 ( shere road )

Go up the a3 come off at Guildford, through the town centre, past the leisure centre, keep going until you hit a big junction with lots of traffic lights and about 4 lanes then go right up the hill...andd.....taadaaaa theres a corner with a cafe and car park and lots of bikes.

basically go for the a25. if you hit dorking youve gone to far and must turn back!

I might be in a similar situation actually, my bikes sounding a little agricultural at the moment, I think it's just the chain and sprockets getting worse.

That or the failure of the external lubrication system.

Mikey10
11-08-12, 04:41 PM
I can't come.

Basically a problam with the rectifier so when the bike gets hot after even a short 10 minute ride its just cuts out when i come to a stop at any point.

Also i mentioned my brake fluctuation and after they test rode it and he obviously was being a complete **** as firstly said he did'nt feel anything then i said could you replace them anyway under the warrenty as i just bought the bike and his answer was no so im stuck with a loan bike to get home as i leave it with them anyway to fix it.

Ring my dad he contacts them and has a further talk about the brakes and got a similar response to me and has said that its best to get all my money back as they have sold me a bike that not fit to ride as the brake don't function as they should and they sold it to me and are'nt willing to fix the problem as the disc's are expensive and don't come under the warrenty so im now in all sorts of trouble.

Anyway as my dads more experienced when it comes to this stuff he advised me to get all my money back and just go somewhere else.

As far as my SV goes they can keep it i still want a GSXR so might aswell sit with out a bike for a week or two unitl i find a good buy.

Spank86
11-08-12, 04:44 PM
I agree with your dad and don't let them give you any rubbish about warranties, it's a sale of goods act issue, the warranty is irrelevant, they have a legal obligation to either provide you with a working product or refund.

Mikey10
11-08-12, 05:04 PM
yes pretty much what my dad says thanks for clearing that up was unsure wether my dads was being a bit fussy about the whole thing.

I've somehow got to get the loan bike back. going to be a akward walk to the counter to give the keys back. :smt085

Spank86
11-08-12, 05:56 PM
The only thing to remember is you can't force a refund if they are prepared to fix all the problems.

Fallout
11-08-12, 07:11 PM
Best to get angry too. I don't mean offensive. I mean, psyche yourself up and tell yourself you're in the right and they have screwed you over. If you go in thinking you're asking them to do you a favour, they'll walk all over you if they're pushy. You gotta go in with the "You've screwed me over by selling me a lemon and you have to put it right" attitude.

@Ad - Thoughts on going yet? I probably will! Weather looks ok. Maybe 1 short shower if we're unlucky. Not Goodwood style though.

Yeah, good ride! Brock, I did the old pen test and it turns out the whole wheel is warped. Why the previous owner **** powder coated the wheel, replaced and bearing and put new pads on when the problem is obviously that the wheel itself is ****ed, I have no idea.

Gonna need to get a new wheel. I posted a thread in the Other Bikes forum, or whatever it's called, in case you have any pearls of wisdom.

BBadger
12-08-12, 08:53 PM
Hold that thought just because the outside edge isn't straight doesn't mean its buggered. That's just a monkey with a tyre lever.
Unless the middle of the rim is damaged it should ride alright if the bearings are good.
Sort the brakes first and work from there....also is the wheel balanced correctly??

On the tablet atm but will pm you a big list to check later on.

Fallout
12-08-12, 10:02 PM
The thing is though Brock, both brake disks are wobbling too. I'll check tomorrow to see if they move in the same way (which would suggest its the wheel at fault). But I can't really see why both brake discs would be warped unless the wheel was damaged. Seems unlikely both sides would've taken a knock, unless someone used them both as some sort of lever point or something. Don't know how to track down the culprit!

BBadger
12-08-12, 10:22 PM
