Any time in the past I've needed the bike upright I've just popped it on the trailer, as it has clamps for the wheels and holds it nicely.
Well now I've got these here paddock stands, and I'm a bit scarred to use them as I can't escape the feeling that as soon as I lift one end the bike will roll in the opposite direction! I've thought possibly pop it in gear and lift the front first?
Am I being a big girl and worrying too much?:smt053
Any and all direction welcome!:stupid:
Many tutorials on YouTube. Basically rear first and have someone hovering round the front of the bike the first few times. Not mrs.ace unless you are looking for a divorce. Brick under the side stand to make he bike more vertical helps too.

Always do the rear first mate. The bike does roll as you lift it up, but only a little. Once it's up on the rear one, it's secure to lift onto the front.
Locate the rear stand in place (on axles or swing arm, depending on what type). So the stand itself will be lent over with the bike, with only one of it's wheels on the floor. Stand on the opposite side to the side stand, get your hand on the rear seat and pull the bike towards you, moving the paddock stand with it. Once the bike is upright, you should be able to put some weight down on the stand and effectively keep the bike upright. Double check the stand is still located properly, then push down and hoist away.
Pretty scary the first time you do it, but easy peasy after a while.

Actually, if you watch my Spark Plug tutorial, you'll see me do it and get the general idea! :)
Seriously get someone you trust to "hover" the first time you try. After first 2-3 times it's easy but scary first time.

Ah I see! Well I guess that answers my question, Yes I'm an idiot!:smt053
PS, Its the oil change tutorial you fool, I was watching you change plugs for ages!
Easy option - do what I did the first time... Use someone else's bike :-)

Doh about the wrong tutorial! If you're free today, you could always come round to mine or vice versa if you can't wait for the tombo restricted sv. :D
Just checking that you either have either got swingarm bobbins or you have a set of universal brackets for the rear stand. The original post selling the stands shows the metal hooks; these latch onto bobbins. Hopefully you also have a pair of flat brackets with rubber pads on them. These are universal brackets and sit under the swingarm. You should be able to get bobbins from infinity or hg or maybe toms fine emporium of you need them.

Yeah its got universal brackets.
You're good to go then. Get some bobbins anyway when you get the chance as they are much better.
Also suggest you are nice to Tom else he may show you how to get your bike on the stand then tootle off on his tractor without telling you how to get it back off again.
Did I see mention that you have a bike trailer????? Another worthy addition to the GM tools library :)

Don't worry. Nathan will be selling that to me for a tenner in the next few days.

But I have a towbar and what's more I'll withhold your pocket money for a couple of weeks. You'll then have the choice of using the coppers in your Angeleena Ballerina piggy bank for buying your weekly razzle or making a down-payment on the trailer. And we both know which way that decision will go.

This.
Oddly enough the shop I got my rear stand from actually let me try one on their FZ6 demonstrator so I knew how to use it. Even easier once I upgraded to bobbins.
Surprised nobody has suggested selling the bike and getting one with a centre stand...

Hahahaha. Nathan, you unfaithful scumbag. Not only were you unfaithful, but you failed at it. It's like going on a dating website for a new girlfriend under the nose of your Mrs and not getting a single nibble. :smt082
@Fallout. Surely this belongs in the abuse thread!

Yes and no. Yes, officially it does, and no because abusing Nathan is valid in any thread.

OK OK call it a momentary lapse, the old girl is getting better with age, especially as I've started looking after her and not just thacking about doing no maintenance and hoping for the best.;)
