Yesterday i decided to take my tyre off and give the chain and sprockets a good clean. After cleaning it all and putting it back together i aligned my rear tyre and i noticed when i pushed the bike back into the garage a clicking noise was coming from the front sprocket. so i did the whole alignment process again and it still was making a clicking noise which seems to be coming from the front sprocket, about 6-8 times per rotation. The chain and sprockets have only done 2000miles. the bike as never made this noise before and was fine before the clean.
please help!
cheers
Its not come loose ?
Its not uncommon mine did .
sounds like you forgot to put the spacer back in the sprocket carrier.

i dont think the front sprocket as come unloose but i will tighten it up and see if the problem persists, the spacer is definitely in, that's the first thing i checked cos thought it was the alignment of the sprockets...
i'm on about the the captive one in the inside or the carrier that goes between the carrier and the wheel bearings. failing that the chain is to tight.
Thers allways the posibility that the hardening on the sprokets not to spechal and its worn a bit .
When I got shot of my sv the wear on the sproket would make it noisy only goiing bacwards?
Is your noise same back and forwards?

not sure which one you mean :/ everything that came off the bike as been put back on in the exact place, the chain is the correct tension

yeah it is the same when i roll the bike forwards and backwards, i will take a video of the sound it makes and upload it on here.
if you were to take the sprocket carrier off there is long a spacer on the inside that goes between the carrier bearing and the wheel bearing.
sometimes an easy way to tell is that the carrier is slightly depressed into the rear wheel if the spacer is missing. if the spacer is there the carrier should be slightly raised from the rear wheel. if you can put your finger on the carrier housing at the edge where it meats the wheel housing there should be a slight raised edge away from the wheel if this edge is slightly depressed into the wheel then good chance its missing.

just checked and the spacer is definitely there... the noise seems to be coming from the front sprocket :/
Number 8
It might be the sproket and the bike wheels dont run on the same axis.
You remember if the maks on the swining arm were the same number both sides before you took it to bits
have you tried putting the bike in and out of gear as it might just be catching on gear teeth in the gearbox.

yeah the chain tension was fine before. the markers were on the same number. just needed a clean so took the tyre off and aligned it all when i put it back on and now making a clicking noise. yeah i have put it in and out of gears and took it round the block to see if the new lube i put on needed just to wear in but that is not the case. the amount of lube doesnt seem to make a difference to the noise.

Looks like it was the front sprocket that was VERY loose... I tightened it up and it is fine however I can feel the vibration of the chain going round the sprocket if I clutch in :/ so confused about that in less I have never noticed it before... The link with the video of the front shock before the fix is...

If its been loose then it will have worn the sprocket a bit odd. I put bearing lock on mine as it clicked
Just keep a weathered eye on it.
I thought this was normal, damn, something else to look at. When checking chain tension, I can force mine to move up and down about 2.5cm, is this the correct method or is that too tight?

Josh you should have bought a new nut and washer to go over front sprocket . As new nut from robinsons foundry has threadlock so it wouldnt have come loose . But because u use ur previous nut it came loose . Never mind aye . Good job i sed check front sprocket when i came down lol
