View Full Version : ARRGH! Where's my video camera?!

Ok, tricky situation: camcorder has gone missing. 99% sure I've not misplaced it. I've searched high and low in all the places I would and would not put it, and can't find it. I've been using it recently, so I know it's movements!

Two remaining possibilities: Mrs has "tidied" it away, though I've searched the whole house, including her usual "tidy" spots (i.e. stuffing stuff in the cupboard under the stairs etc). No luck. Or one of her friends nicked it when she had a party the weekend it went missing. It was probably on the table in the lounge where they all are, and one of her friends is basically a bit damaged, so she has my full suspicions.

Mrs claims she's not touched it, as usual. I have no evidence for theft and I'm not even sure, but I'm ****ED OFF and fed up with my stuff being tidied away and vanishing forever. My camcorder is the last straw. This time though, I'm getting more convinced damaged girl has nicked it.

What to do eh? I can handle the camera is gone, but what I can't handle is just chalking it down as a loss and moving on as the Mrs would happily do.

Not really looking for any advice. Probably isn't anything useful anyone can say. Just venting! :smt096 :smt071

it's in the bedroom as you used it when you were drunk to film the all new Fallout show :-)

or the dog has buried it in the garden for not paying attention to it.

It wasn't used for porn Bibio. It never got the chance. :(

@Dizzy - Nah, Mrs isn't like that, I don't think. She knows I couldn't take it if I found out. I'm a grumpy git with no patience for practical jokes or mind games. I'd probably go straight down the estate agents and get the house up for sale then move out. :D

Ok, well your missus took the bread bin for a walk with the dog and forgot where she took it.

Doesn't look good for partying drunk females, maybe they video'd the evidence of what happened next.........and someone took offense :/

Drop round the friend's house for tea with the Mrs and have a search. Or just get your wife to tell mate you've had a row over it and unless it turns up your Mrs will be needing alternative accommodation and can your mate put her up. It may reappear.

Well the girls boyfriend is a martial arts instructor who beats the **** out of her and makes her starve herself into a waif. So really not that interested in going round their place and definitely not searching around! I will look out for it if she gets invited round again though, but not before locking up all my valuables into a cupboard.

Sell your Mrs into slavery and buy a new camera, and some decent wheels for the Gixxer.

My vote goes to the Dog. You showed him how to work it and now look what's happened. Its like Planet of the Apes all over again ...

Tell the Mrs that in order to claim on the insurance for a new one you will need to get a police report number.

Advise her that you will need names and addresses of everyone who was in your house the weekend the camera went missing in case the police ask you for the information as you will be telling them that the last time you saw the camera was immediately before this gathering and you haven't seen it since. Advise her that she should let all of her friends know, out of courtesy, that the police may be contacting them as part of the routine investigation.

Tell her she has until the weekend to get you the info and make the warnings to the relevant people.

Then, on Saturday, if some dozy bint hasn't handed it back with a "it must have gotten knocked into my handbag, oops" kind of apology, call the Police.

Worst case your missus will be more careful with her friends around, as you will have told her that one of them must have took it (If you are SURE you have looked everywhere), and that if anything else goes missing you will be banning ALL of those friends from entering the house when you are not there to keep an eye on them as you should not have to hide all of your valuables in your own home.

Is she the kind of person to use it to actual film stuff or just sell it for cash?

If she does start posting clips online would it have the model and make in the exif/metadata?
