Is that the Steep road where I can't quite make that big left at 150?...... sorry I meant 35!
no, this is the one with the wooded section, where Scott came out with us. Apparantly 2pm is a better time to try ;)

Yeah that's the badger, uphill through some almost hairpins, hang a left, lots of swooping stuff down to the junction, turn round and repeat:D
Awesome bit of road but on the way back there is one bend I'm sure I could take flat out but I can't get the entry right, I've only been down there 3 or 4 times and every time I nearly bin it on that corner!:smt009

Yes Nathan it's the b2141, between the 2146 and a286... And back again. :D
Thank you DJ,
you know you're meant to accelerate out of a corner, not into it?! surely knowing you nearly bin it every time should tell you something, either get some new tyres &/or slow down ;)
No worries Spank, only jsut downloaded my sat nav maps tonight

I know, but that corner is sooooo tempting, I'm sure I could get round it at full throttle but need to try it a few more times to get it right!:smt041
You should have a blast on my beasty, when you've got all that power you just want to use it!
shall we wait at the side of the road and watch you race up and down all day till you get it right?

You lot blocking the road so I could use all the tarmac would make it easier, but alas that plan may not be too popular with the rozzers!:(

If someone's got an estate car I have a reasonable amount of roadworks signs.
This could work, early on a weekend morning place a couple of signs
Spank86

Only ones I don't have are road closed.
Spank86

Same difference, you have to get permission to close roads these days so we'd need to pinch those signs.
Might get away with just roadworks and a line of cones though.

I smell a plan forming, although dates and timing would be better organised by mobile phone!;)

That road is good, it forms part of my "Basingstoke-Beach-Basingstoke" route.

Taking the tight twisty bit, under the trees, down hill, when it's moist, at night, and with a tinted visor, and bad brakes, on a new bike, was probably one of the scariest things I've done for a while. Was so glad to be slowed down by that car in front.
Oi you lot. We'll have all sort of idiots blocking up my secret good roads. If you are going to shout about them all I'll not take you on the really good ones!

Quick DJ remove that map dads had a big day and he's not happy!;)
It's good because it's not too popular. If it get too popular too many people do stupid things next there's a blanket 50 and speed camera on every good bit. Bit like good surf beaches, need to keep it quietish to keep it good.
Can share you a really good bit of road towards Taunton from the West if you want some excitement to/from Bodmin. But only if you've not given up by then and decided to blat it down the A38

Not sure but I think the plan is to blat the first half as quick as possible, but any info on interesting/wiggly/nadgery bits from Devon Weswards would be much appreciated!:D

Hope to see you cornering a touch faster now........on the throttle from entry to exit!;)
yeah seen that before. I'm not saying that you don't go into a corner on a positive throttle, just not on FULL throttle ;)

Throttle is binary.

The Ace only has two gears, Full tilt and parked!:smt040
it only has 2 gears now because the brakes work
Fallout
24-08-12, 10:54 PM
My bike only has 2 gears too, but that's because Nathan broke the rest of my gear box 'helping' me take off the front sprocket.
why didn't you wrap the chain back around the sprockets, tie it back together (cable tie, wire something) and then try to undo the sprocket?
Fallout
24-08-12, 11:05 PM
The chain was around the sprocket. Didn't need to tie it back together. So long as it's hooked over the top of each sprocket, it creates a solid link. Still had to wedge a metal bar between the wheel and swingarm as the rear brake wasn't enough, then both of us had to jump on the wrench to get it undone.
It was a touch tight then  you got the new set on yet?
Fallout
24-08-12, 11:10 PM
Yeah, just a bit! Yep got the new set on. Will know if we've done a good job after a few thousand miles. If the chain is still on and the split link hasn't got all tight, happy days! :) Now I just need an inflated rear tyre.
riveted link you mean? hope you've not put a split link/circlip link on! Air in tyres is over rated, you now have the maximum contact patch possible
Fallout
24-08-12, 11:36 PM
That's what I meant! Well, riveted we hope! Will find out if my legs get flayed off at 100mph.
you'll be faster with no legs, less weight. Will need to have a hand shifter for the gears though, attach your walking stick to the pedal ;)

Stop worrying you poof, my bodging skills are legendary, those rivets are tighter than a jock in a pub, and your chain is about as stiff as an aroused octogenarian!;)
you know that the rivets don't need to be tight. All they do is hold the side plate on, so need a good rounded head on them. If they're too tight they'll cause premature failure of the O ring seals

25-08-12, 05:54 PM
I was waiting for that, yes I know, been doing this since before you had a scooter, head squished nicely that side plate aint going nowhere, and the link itself moves looser than a dutch pro's undergarments!
