View Full Version : GSXR 1000 rear shock fitted.

Recently i have installed a GSXR 1000 rear shock, changed all bearings in the monoshock linkage and the bearings in the swingarm. Plus greased up the swingarm bearings.
WOW! It feels like new and handles like a dream. It actually handles, sticks to the road and the suspension, well, works! Need to tweak it on the next few ride outs and i'm a happy bunny!
I can completely see why people change the rear shock, and then do the front end.
To all those considering doing this, go for it!

I'm gonna be doing mine soon so hope it turns out as good as yours seems to have. Have you got plans for the front end then, I'll no doubt have to do something with mine once the shock is in.

I would check all bearings once you have removed the linkage and shock, may as well do it all at once if it's apart.
Front end will either be new springs, oil and emulators, or GSXR front end if i get a good deal. Got to plan on how long i'm keeping the bike for before i get a GSXR front end.

I loved mine when i did the swap too. Got a brand new unit from a race team who stripped the bike for Ohlins replacements. I didn't change a single setting from the factory ones.

Forks got Hyperpro progressives and new oil. Awesome.

Sometimes wonder why i bought a Tiger...

Hadn't really thought of doing the bearings, was it an easy enough job?

LOL hell no! the bearings in the swingarm are a PITA, swingarm off jobbie. In the monoshock linkage they aren;t bad, need access to a press though. The build kit is £72.50 from Wemoto. This doesn't include the bearings that go in the swingarm though. Best to check them and see if they need replacing 1st
