Not sure quite how this will work but I live in hope.

This forum is taking up too much of my time. I think I'm becoming addicted. 180+ unread emails from the forum suggest I'm into too many threads. I need to bust this habit.

So this thread is for others to join me for support in addressing the addiction. This is the Forum Addiction Recovery Thread or FART.

Like I said, no idea how it will work but I feel if we all FART together we can all come out of this as better people who can do more than post on this bloody forum.

I'll start.

I'm Mark and it's been less than a second since my last post.

I'm Simon and I just checked this forum midway through a dump.

For the record, I disabled email notifications long ago!

At least you guys are willing to admit you have an issue and face that fact.

Some others (who will remain nameless) are on here far too much, but, would never be able to admit it to themselves.

I was once like you, I was on here constantly. But, I saw the light, i.e. went out on the bike more! Ha ha

@ Cymraeg_Atodeg - First step to recovery is acknowledgement of the problem. You declare the issue in others but not yourself yet here you are responding promptly to a post that's in a regional section to which you are not even local.

The relaunched GM is massively into riding and we get out a lot yet still find time to waste on here while avoiding doing more worthwhile things like sleeping, eating or talking to the wife.

When you feel ready to accept that you are indeed addicted there will be a welcome here for you .

Rydym hyd yn oed helpu siaradwyr Cymraeg yma.

Yeah, we do get dissed a lot, yet we're out every weekend riding hundreds of miles to the coast. Some are off to bodmin this weekend, some are off to Wales soon, some have dropped their bikes millions of times and keep coming back for more. We are prolific highway harassers! :D

Oh dear, I checked the forum again.

This thread is to assist in kicking the forum habit and as such posts should be only of that nature. Please use the chat, abuse, new order or pleb threads for non-recovery related discussion. You are undermining the purpose of this thread (unsustainably I should add so -1) which is here to help.

And you've reset my forum clock you bar steward!

Top tip for FARTing.

I've changed my email notification to daily rather than instant. I was developing a pavlovic response to the email ping which had me checking the .org before I even opened my emails. Hopefully it will kick in tonight as currently it's still pinging me each time Fallout falls off the wagon (taking me with him)

Also never ever ever click on Realtime post spy in Quick links as that way lies madness.

Yay!!!

A clean hour of full access and time on my hands but DID NOT check the forum. Even checked work email on return to my desk before checking out the ORG.

I see a distant light at the end of the tunnel!

It can be done my friends, it can be done.

I'm on the road to recovery, one hour at a time.

But it is free and cheaper than the phone for organising rideouts.:D

By the way who's this Welsh fella that reckons we need to ride more, if we did there'd be no fuel in the south of England for anybody else!;)

Fel y dywedais, bydd y rhai sydd angen help yn cyfaddef bod ganddynt angen amdano

As I am on my lunch break I'll take the bait; "You declare the issue in others but not yourself yet here you are responding promptly to a post that's in a regional section to which you are not even local"

The reason I have posted in the GM section is when I look at what is happening on the Org I click the "new posts" button; http://forums.sv650.org/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=53

As such I see all posts from all rooms. I do not look at where stuff it is posted, just what it is about. And this thread having both "cold turkey" and "Fart" in the title, I couldn't help but investigate

Widepants I can let the abuse of a senior party member pass but poor attention to detail is unsustainable. You've been here 3 years not 5 so -1 credit and see education minister for some extra maths homework. (join date = 2009)

As for recovery I've had my morning fix and now hope to go an hour completely orgless. See you on the other side.

My name is Mark. My last post was less than a second ago but I plan to be clean for the next hour.

Tomorrow I shall be in London for most of the day wearing a tie and being all important and sensible so hopefully can spend the bulk of the day sans-org. Be a gibbering wreck by the time I get home though so expect a flurry of activity.

I may require a credit recommendation summary in the evening if it's been a busy forum. Be warned London makes me grumpy so act sustainably.

My name is Mark, I had a fairly good day today and look forward to a better one tomorrow.

Of to Bodmin so lets see if I can stay off my phone and have a couple of days without the Org!

I've just managed to survive a complete week without going on the Org... but only because I've been off in the wilds of South Wales on holiday with little or no signal, menaing no Org on the phone. Had to wait until the rest of family settled down to watch Dr Who before being allowed on the web too.

Normal service has been resumed now though.
