Hi all,

We are in Strasbourg and need to get some brake pads from somewhere today, any suggestions?

Sorry for late replies, just got back! Wasnt my bike mate. Wiggles SV pad disintegrated on the trip (however the one on the other side was fine??). Were fine when we left. Also has knackered the disc.

I've somehow fooked my rear pads too while over in southern France, checked before I went seemed about 50% left, almost down to metal now, haven't used the rear for 500 miles now, which is tricky on stupidly tight mountain passes :smt120

So I need some ASAP on my return :)

Weird, both pads I am assuming? On the front she just cable tied one caliper and used the other one temporarily until we got the new pads. Obviously on the rear you cant do that. Am hoping I can find a bike garage POI for the sat nav for europe - as that would be a godsend !

You've got google on your phone haven't you? I'm an old bloke and known to be a bit of a technophobe, but even I can suss how to use google and a sat nav to find a bike dealership.

I use CoPilot on my Android phone, it has "Motorcycle Dealerships" in it. Never used them though, might have a look and see what's in there and if I can export them.

Rather you than me if you're abroad without a mobile data plan. The charges are extortionate more often than not.

(well, unless you find an open WiFi connection)

Now the mountain passes are hopefully behind us, I can cope without a rear brake tbh, it's crap anyhow.

I did think about changing them but CBA.

That could be an idea. If there is a thing for iPhone I can look it up :). I did use wifi where I could get it, but on route it was a bit tricky. Hence I posted this up when I was at the hostel :). But yeah, there was no way I was going to turn data roaming on tbh!

Fair enough ! Long as you manage(d) :) Btw Phil, any roads you can recommend around your way heading west? Going on a ride with a couple of people and planning a way to go :)

Dunno, where are you?

The way I'm heading north now is the first time on these roads tbh, I came a different route last year, but some are in the best biking roads book I've got with me so will see how they are.

I can't stand anymore mways until last day so they had better be good :)

I was creating a route from Northampton out west but ive pretty much done one similar to what we did the first time we met.

Yeah motorways are boring. Glad we didnt do the motorway from Mosel Valley to Durnal. Set sat nav to shortest route avoiding all major roads and saw some amazing sights.
