View Full Version : Water Proof Recommendations?
Hey.. Not after a water proof jacket or trousers as such just the over the top ones. Can anyone recommend some that will actually be water proof? Can be a 1 or 2 piece. Did a quick search and couldn't see any actual threads specifically for this...
Am also after some water proof gloves as I have some Dainese Scout Gore-tex gloves that are OK if it isnt heavy rain or doesn't rain for longer than 5/10 mins other wise my hands start to get damp and horrible.

I've got a held one piece I'm pretty happy with.
I've recently purchased a 2 piece set in the Hein Gericke sale. They are really light and compact. last week I travelled over 300 miles to Somerset and it rained 90% of the way. I was completely dry at the other end, no leaks at all. Im not sure if the shops are still open but you can still buy online.

My Weiss two piece has never leaked and it's been through some torrential storms.
Have a two piece as I find it easier to get on quickly - it's also about two sizes too large for the same reason.
Yeah I popped into jsaccessories yesterday and they recommended a 1 piece due to there being no leaks as it can't roll up or seperate, I had a hell of a time getting it on and off. There's a HG store right by where I live (only just found out) so going to pop in on the way home and see if they are still open.

Do you not find it flaps around a lot? I'll be doing nearly an 80 mile round trip a day (Commute to and from work) and 20 of that being Motorway miles

i Have a pair of high viz flexothane trosers when its raining i keep them under the pillion seat so i always have them, and i can just slip them on over my jeans and boots nice and strechy and also very tough. good at stopping the wind too and on them dark rainy days they help you get seen, have a waterproof texile jacket anyway so im nice dry and warm :). highly recommend the trousers tho
Went to HG on the way home... got £50 worth of water proofs for £23 :) Can't complain and they fit really well.....
But I literally did not know there was under seat storage on the SVs..... Just went to take a look... after about 2 mins I found it and how to open it and then found an old bike lock wedged in there.... and I can fit my water proofs in there... winner :D
I've been looking for last few days, fed up with getting soaked. Can't decide. HG have the size above what I wanted an the size below, so I had to leave empty handed.
Any one had experience with over boot water proofs e.g.

I always end up with a boot full, even if I zip them under my leathers.
Thankfully my boots stay bone dry.... :)
Mine have a fabric piece at the front that lets it in. How do you guys keep warm now it is cooling? I used to wear a couple of coats under a textile jacket in winter. Now I have the sv I have a 2 piece leather suit

Army issue gore tex and NBC boot covers and glove outers, not Gucci bike kit I know but 100% waterproof you could scuba dive in 'em, can pick up the lot for £20 ish at any surplus store.
Army Goretex waterproofs for me :)
£10-15 from an army surplus store worked a treat for years! If your lucky you may find a one tankie/mechanic onesy somewhere dirt cheap! :D

I'd rather have wet feet than the crash resistance of paper towels!
