So daddy sewed the seed of a weekend ride. I am busy Sunday, but need to escape nieces and other horrible things that are coming round on Saturday (though have to be back for the evening). So who's in and what's the plan?
Attendees:
- El presidentino
- El Spankador
- Jammodor, if he's fixed his puncture
- Daddiodor, if he can be arsed

If i have new tyres count me in

What did you do mate? I heard it was a puncture?
yeah, 3 hour trip back from london, last 30 miles or so the bike felt horrible. About a mile away from my house i pulled over cause the bike was wobbling about and the rear tyre was completely flat and the slime lining from the tyre was covering the back of me' bike...
RAC are heroic, got to me in around five minutes and did a temporary repair :D

Good stuff. Get it fixed mate, ASAP. Would highly recommend the place Marh_H sent me too in reading. Ride In Tyres I believe. Nice chap. Quick cheap service. He'll sort you out in no time. He may even just fix the puncture for a tenner.
Im getting new tyres fitted tomorrow, Already booked in hehe. After a bit of scrubbing in i should be able to have some fun on sat
EDIT: cheers for rec though
Just to forewarn I'm back to a 50:50 for the weekend. Suggest you start to get your route thinking caps on just in case I have to drop out. To be honest I was going to make it up anyway. Sort of:-
Fleet - Basingstoke - Overton - Laverstoke/Mitcheldever etc - Popham for bacon butty/coffee - Andover - Devizes(ish) loop around Salisbury planes then Andover B3400 - A30 - Home.
Or maybe old A30 from Salisbury out West until we get bored
Or something like that. Anyone got any decent ideas round that way?

Come to Essex - Supervox has got a rideout going on. And I'm making burgers for afterwards.
Fallout

I think I could lead a half decent route from Basingstoke way round to Micheldever then on to Andover, at which point there is another road I've followed Ad along which is pretty sweet. In fact, we used to ride some pretty cool roads until I got mixed up with you fools! Time to revisit them, me thinks.
@Clare - As alluring as your burgers are, it's two hours of crap to get to Essex. Can't you move somewhere more convenient?

Would be in but alas I'm heading oop norf to show the yokels how we shandy drinkers do it!;)

Nathan, you dingler! Oh well.
Right, who else is game for this?
I'm happy to lead the trek from a Loomies style location back to basingstoke, through micheldever then down to Andover, at which point I propose Spank takes over. I can knock my head together with him to come up with an overall plan.

So what's the plans?
I propose 09:00 meet for 09:30 fully fueled departure starting Holiday-Inn Basingstoke then heading South and West from there. I'm now approaching 80:20 in favour of being able to make it.
If it's a sunny Saturday anything that goes anywhere near Loomies will be crawling with nice friendly police officers looking to reward your exuberant riding with a nice little certificate.
If you lot want to go via there; that's fine, I'll join in at Basingstoke if you give me a location.

I know where the holiday inn is so am happy to meet there as we're going west.

Sounds like a great plan. Any chance we could slip the start half an hour so I can go plunder Farnborough HeinGericke before I get there? (assuming LPH is not picketing the store)
Basingstoke Holiday Inn
09:30 for a 10:00 departure
Follow either MarkH or Fallout for some Westward wigglage.

Well since you set the start time it shouldn't be a problem, I have a bit of a hike to get up there anyway. On the plus side I now have new chain and sprockets and the bike feels much smoother.

Not trying to hijack your plans or anything, but if you fancy heading in the oppostite direction we have a rideout organised followed by BBQ at Chez Vox tomorrow - see HERE (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=182804) for details.
Enjoy your day out whichever direction you head off in - it's gonna be hot one :-)
This lot get a nosebleed if they change post-code, let alone counties. I suspect the rather dull 2 hour or slightly more interesting 3-4 hour trek to Essex is likely to be a bit of a non-starter but thanks for the invite.

What are you babbling about dad? We change counties on most ride outs. Half of us went to Bodmin last weekend. I think you may be talking about yourself there, old man!

No probs. If you fancy a trip to the bad-lands of Essex then don't let me stop you.
Do we have an attendance list for Saturday yet?

I'll pretty much go anywhere, I've crossed countries in a single trip so counties doesn't bother me but I'm afraid a 2 hour motorway trawl on my own doesn't interest me so I'll have to give the Essex offer a miss unless others want to go.
Cheers for the invite though.

Rough mileage?
28-350 depending on where we end up. I'd budget for at least one and possibly two tanks.

Hopefully not now my new chains on.
Anybody else want a fly-by of HeinGericke in the morning? If not are we agreed on 09:30 for 10:00 depart Holiday Inn?

Yup, it has split/lost a some of the shells that sit on the links

Job, I am disappointed! You should be on it right now, slaving away into the night. Only takes a few hours when you know how.
Fallout, read above. I have no new chain ;) I have new sprockets aas i know they needed doing. Upon removing sprockets i found the missing shells on the chain
Got Pilot Road 2's fitted today and they feel terrible :/

You'll get used to them mate. New tyres always feel different. Road are sport touring aren't they? If you had sport on before, they'll feel worse until you get used to the sensation. I had the same issue with my SV when I renewed the rubber, but got used to it within 100 miles.
i have Avon vyper's before... which were full on sports tyres whereas these are dual compound. I know they are going to feel very different but by god it was terrifying!

Also, what time you all meeting tommorow? MAY tag along for a bit but got work later so will have to FO at some point

don't always need to depending how the chain has worn. I could easily see the sprockets were on their last legs. The chain still felt/looked good

PR2's are fab tyres. Problem is you've got used to tyres that are squared off. The new ones will be tyre shaped; you probably feel a bit like the bike's wearing high-heels right now. Do a few miles, gradually increase your lean angles and you'll never look back.

He did damn well in Bodmin, and he drove over 700 miles in one weekend. Thats about 4 tanks of fuel on the SV. Probably the same of amount times you've filled up your bike this year ;)

Oh and the compound won't make a blind bit of difference to you at the moment. I've taken Pr2s on a track and they are just fine. Clear your head of such thoughts. Just get used to riding on tyre shaped tyres and you'll be fine!

That's what I was thinking.
So are we all confirmed then. 09:30 for 10:00 departure meeting at Holiday inn. I'm looking for a fairly relaxing ride rather than a mental, hair on fire kind of ride. Is that OK with all or should I be doing my own thing?
Calm will be good to get Jammy used to his new rubber too.
I'll be hitting Heingericke first so if anyone else wants to meet me there then I can get you to Basingstoke an interesting way. Bulky stuff can be dropped off at my place and collected on the way home if required.

9:30 is good with me. I'll be there. Just mix it up Mark. If it's a long day, no need to go hell for leather. We can just have the occasional blat or shananigans when the opportunity presents itself. Plus Jammy needs to acclimatize to his horrible handling, well reviewed and highly acclaimed tyres.

Tyres are fine, bike is fine, problem exists with rider.
Dan forgets when he struggled to keep up with me the other day. I was on new rubber today for ****s sake :smt021
And yeah Mark that sounds about right. I went out for another ride this evening and the grip is very good, it just feels like the bike is going to fall over.... but i'm still here arent i :D[-(

Jammy, I had exactly the same thing when I changed my first tyres, don't think the guy before me knew what a corner was and when I put new rubber on it felt like it was far less stable and always wanting to tip over.
It's not. It's just a smooth curve instead of a flat middle. Does make it harder to not put your feet down when stopped though.
Can i ask someone to confirm Time/Place and if we are going to hg or not
