I start my SV, turn choke off and let it idle. All is well and good, the rpm is around 1250. After a short ride, it jumps to about 2500!
This happens repeatedly, I can only assume the cable is twisting as I adjust it and springing back mid ride (vibes?).
Anyone experienced a similar issue??

Adjust your idle speed when the bike is warm.
On cold start (I never use choke, haven't needed it) my idle speed is 900-1000rpm. I then stick helmet and gloves on and head off within 20-30 seconds. When the engine is warm my idle speed is 1500, I found my bike idled a bit rough any lower than that and many people on here recommend around 1500.

Have a search on here for choke plungers and make sure they are free. The curvy will not run properly unless they are.

I'm surprised, my dad's bike will barely run without choke when it's cold.

Mine usually cuts out on first crank, then fire it back up again and it'll happily sit there on a slow idle, then if it's warm, blip throttle and the idle restores back to 1500.

This was the problem with my idle speed problem. Check your plugs after as one my be getting a different mixture.
