So finally got a chance to go for a run after putting on new shock and fixing new indicators all round.

Got back and I see this:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us)

Urgh.

Now, I know I need a new plate, indies. But I'm not entirely sure how it all went on before.

I know I had 2 L shaped brackets which went behind the plate for the indicators, but other than that, I'm not 100% on what brackets fitted to where exactly.

Undertray was cracked before anyway. So what bits do I need to buy to get this sorted asap?

So I need a new undertray and a plate bracket then.

How are you fixing your indicators to that plate? I see no right angle at either end of the plate bracket?

What the picture of my backend doesn't show is the width adjustable 'L' shaped indicator brackets (sp?) that come with it, not a bad bit of kit. It mounts to the part of the undertray that you have lost though, so you may need to make some kind of brackets 'L' shaped or the like.

Looks like your undertray has been smashed off by the rear tyre hitting the number plate possibly, ive seen it happen on bouncy roads.

Dont be silly, I'm grateful for the help.

I dont think it was smashed off by the rear tyre, as I have a new shock on which if anything is still set a bit stiff. But I could be wrong. Shame I have no way of telling, as I dont want to fix this all and have the same happen again!

I'm hoping that undertray +
something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OXFORD-MOTORCYCLE-MOTORBIKE-TAILTIDY-NUMBER-HOLDER-BLK-/220438136498?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item33532306b2 +

Them ricambimabob trays can be an awful fit and need a fair bit of fettling, maybe they are better now though? *A team music* Could you or some of the local orgers not fashion a plate that fills the hole and fastens to whats left of your tray? Or see if anyone has an old snow shovel laying about their not using?

hongman
09-09-12, 05:24 PM
Well to be fait my current tray is pretty battered anyway - both the fixings at the back have snapped off. If I can get a new one for cheap I'd rather do that. However for £137 at this moment in time I'd rather bodge it back on...

If anyone thinks they can knock something up, be my guest, I;m happy to pay for mats.

Tart ;) Hard to see the difference in those erm maybe the shape? I think pyramid did colour matched undertrays for around £115?

hongman
09-09-12, 05:48 PM
Well with the way the rest of the bike is looking I guess I shouldnt care too much lol.

I emailed them to ask. Would hate to buy the wrong one.

I looked at Pryamid, however for the undertray it says "supplied by Ermax" lol.

Well duck tape it up and make up a reg plate on the pc .print and laminate it stick to thick card .then glue and tape it on . Road test and use you hands for signals.
If its ok then fit a new tray.

hongman
09-09-12, 06:59 PM

hongman
09-09-12, 07:16 PM
Think it would be possible to fill that gap where the plate bracket fits with a fibreglass kit?

NTECUK
09-09-12, 07:34 PM
Well yes .but you need to support it . That's not difficult more tape . Wood releases agent. Like vassline .

I'm thinking replacement number plate should be smaller. That way it won't hit the tyre.

My bike has a tail tidy fitted and the under tray is just a flat piece of sheet metal shaped to fit using the existing bolt holes and rubber over the edges. I would get pics but am about 450 miles away from the bike lol

now that i have stopped laughing...

why don't you just put a proper mudguard back on?

hongman

You know what I wouldn't even know what a proper mudguard looks like.

However I am going to go for a repair, with Aluminum Mesh and Fibreglass Kit.

^ reason I don't like cheap aftermarket sh*te undertrays.

If weight saving for track... don't fit one. If being a f***ing tart then have a word with yourself and leave the bike alone!

Just get a stock undertray... they never break so they cost next to nothing.
