View Full Version : Danmoto GP Extreme Exhaust opinions?

Has anybody got any experience/own a Danmoto GP Exhaust? I quite like the look and sound of them (although I've only heard it online on youtube etc) and from what I can tell they're a decent product. My main concern is if they are just that little bit too loud, it doesn't bother me too much but wondering if my local MOT centre will feel the same as me!
Any opinions appreciated.

to me they don't look right on a pointy. i think they work out cheaper if you get them direct from danmoto. http://www.dan-moto.com/DM_INT/

I have just bought one for my Curvy, haven't fitted it yet, will post some pics when I have and let you know how I get on.
Not sure on the MOT side of things, I was working on the basis that if it fails then I would pop the stock one on and send it back for a retest. Also my friends CBR400 passed it's MOT and I'm pretty sure the can on that is not 'road legal'

Just worked it out it's probably just a bit cheaper (with postage added) through Danmoto and would prefer to go through them if I bought it so cheers for that.
I do quite like it I've seen one on youtube and they have the link pipe angled out slightly so the exhaust looks almost like a high level one, looks good.

Cheers would be interesting to see what you think.
It mentions on their eBay add about the baffle you can get for it which I've just found on their site, could be worth a look, even if it's just for MOT time!

Yeah I got the baffle, looking at the exhaust I think I am gonna put it in without trying it without. I reckon it's gonna be silly without.

+1 Waiting for a photographer to catch a picture of my oem exhaust grinding on tarmac:rolleyes:
To Dirtyred: If you google damoto gp extreme you will find people with problems, a few actually, at least a few on one of the Kawasaki forums have had problems. I knew this before I bought it, I know a good welder :o

Yeah I've had a good look now and there does seem to be some problems but not loads and they seem to be on the exhausts with rivets, certainly not enough bad reviews to put me off and I'm normally the worst at talking myself out of things!
My only problem is I quite like the look of the GP Conical exhaust but can't find any pictures of that fitted to a SV so can't decide between the 2. The closest pic I can find is 1 fitted to a Busa so not the best comparison but it sounds good.
Having said that for just short of £80 with a baffle delivered might just take a punt on the GP Conical exhaust.

So you've not come across the threads with the cracked tig(or is it mig) weldings on the gp extreme? I came across atleast two threads with that problem, but as I said, I bought it even after reading about it, it will end up being crashed, cheapest exhaust I could find with extra ground clearance and I'm not going to shed a tear when I get my metal plate skills(not alot in that bag) out for repairs or even if I have to buy a new one, for anything not safety related I would buy chinese stuff, don't trust them enough for brakes, rearsets, clip ons etc etc.
I've packed away my Akrapovic Ti Race System, I would cry my heart out if I crashed that.

I think that would look seriously ugly on a Pointy, still without seeing a picture you never know! :)

And the fact that there is a picture of the GP Extreme fitted to a pointy in the actual eBay add in my first post! ;)
I do quite like it but like I said think I prefer the GP Conical Exhaust but thats the one that I can't find a picture of fitted - http://www.dan-moto.com/DM_INT/sv-65...oduct-539.html (http://www.dan-moto.com/DM_INT/sv-650-s-2003-2011-conical-gp-product-539.html) - that and the fact there's less welds to come apart lol.

I ordered a Danmoto carbon GP exhaust last Monday from Danmoto's website. It arrived today. Looks good. Just fitted it no probs on an 09, chopped the pipe at 55mm and it just missed the cat. It sounds great. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/18/emy4a3uz.jpg

Can arrived a few days back. Im really pleased with the quality, especially for the money! Sounds good but a bit loud perhaps with the standard 4" baffle in. I got an 8" baffle today in the post today and that has tamed it down, still sounds great mind
Couldn't get the forum to embed my image properly! Grrr not sure why :(

Have you got a pic showing the whole bike so I can get a better idea how it looks. Looks good on that pic though, easy enough to fit? The baffles you have, did you get them both from Danmoto?

Again, you've not got a pic showing the whole bike so I can get a better idea how it looks? Like that one too, so instead off helping me decide which exhaust to go for I'm now undecided between 3 off them lol!

I'll get a better pic for you when it's light, that's the only one I have to hand.
I love this can I bought it purely on the look, in that £100-£150 price bracket I didn't find anything else I liked.
It sounds awesome with the 4" danmoto baffle fitted, might go back to it once I've been out or a few rides, but I think it's a little too loud.
Got the 8" baffle from these guys. http://www.whitedogbikes.com/item--Universal-Removable-Motorcycle-Exhaust-Baffle--Removeable_Exhaust_Baffle.html#.UForYWt5mSM
Fairly easy to fit.
To cut the old silencer off I just used a small hacksaw and about 10 blades! I fitted an exhaust clamp and used that as a guide to cut against.
The link pipe that comes with the can fits straight onto the existing pipes. The silencer just slips over that with a couple of springs to retain it. I didn't use any exhaust sealent or anything.
Not fitted the horrible strap yet, I plan to weld a small tab to the can instead, figure that will look slicker.....

I hadn't even noticed it was attached to the hanger! There's a couple of vids on YouTube I've come across where people have welded on a tab to attach it, it does look miles better. Will you be making and welding it yourself or getting someone to do it as I might have to get you to do mine for me when I've got my exhaust?

No I have a chap locally who does any welding or really complicated fabricating for me....

I think my pipe has already been cut for my current exhaust but think I'll be OK on the K4, is there a cat converter fitted to it?
I like the carbon exhaust as with my bike being black with a silver frame I think it would suit quite well.
How loud is it, my Blue Flame is fairly loud but not stupid, certainly don't want to go any quieter?

Yeah I've decided to buy this one when I get back from Canada, seems to sound well and looks a bit more neat and smaller than my current exhaust, just hope it sounds as good or better than it and for just over £75 from the Danmoto site a bit of a bargain!

During the biblical rain we have had recently I went to check on my bike and noticed that my new exhaust appeared to be slowly filling with water. I positioned the bike on a slight incline then took this. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/10/12/ugy3u3aj.jpg

Been following where by exhasut and rear sets are. So far they took about 6 days to leave China! Now with Parcel farce after being released by customs at 08.56am today. So should imagine will be here by Thursday!!!!:smt026
