Hey guys, I ran into some problems here with my 2001 S650S, 13k miles.

My friend ground the flywheel gear down, so I had to replace it. But before I knew that that was the culprit, I pondered on the starter. So I removed it, and tried cranking it to see if the starter made that same clunking noise. And it didnt, however the starter was loose on (not mounted) and it sparked against the frame.

Now after replacing the flywheel gear, and putting the bike back together, it wont start. It cranks and turns over, but IS NOT GETTING SPARK to either coil.

I'm a newb to motorcycles and would like your opinion and support on what the issue could be. If theres a single part to test, please share and kindly include how to test it.

Once again, neither one of the coils are sending spark.

Thanks for the help guys.

You got pulse generator coil reattached since you had that side open?

I had the left magneto side open. Which one of the said part would be the pulse gen coil?

Sorry man, like I said, I'm a newb to this bike!

Thanks for some light!

You have checked Kill switch ???
Very simple to miss :D

Wouldnt have thought a starter spark would duf anything up the spark was probably the starter needing and earth Got one and SPARK

Are you getting a feed to the Coils ?? You can check this with a multimeter and paper click prodded into the wiring to make a contact set to 20 v and monitor what happens. Do it on the correct side though :D

If no feed id check the pickup at the Pulse gen
Have fun
