View Full Version : Time for a change...
So, I've been back on Sydney since the accident, so this isnt to do with anything about the accident, but I'm seriously considering a different bike...
When I took sydney for his MOT I had a wee sit on the CBR600F and the RR and I really liked the feel of the F, although it feels tiny compared to the SV.
I know the obvious thing to do is go and test ride it, but finding time/appropriate weather is difficult.
Anyone have any thoughts on the newer CBR? Pros, cons, common faults etc?
Remembered this thread from a while back. Worth a read and maybe a pm to the op?

I love my CBR600RR, its a 10plate. Handles lovely and is light and powerful. I also find it far comfier than the SV.

PM Balky,He bought a new F a couple of months ago and he seems very happy with it so far.
Ultimately it is down to yourself and until you have had a decent ride on one you can't make a decision.
Good long test ride in order me thinks then you can ascertain the difference between an IL4 and the V.
May I make a suggestion in trying a Daytona 675 as a comparison between the two.
There was a review of the cbr rr v f in fast bikes summer 2012 edition. The f was good everyday bike and ran surprisingly close to the RR ( not bad for a faired hornet is what they said ).

Just bought my second CBR600F after being on the SV and gixxer and glad to be back on the CBR gr8 bikes
Dicky, I have no intention of test riding more bikes than I need to - the thought of a test ride strikes the fear of all the gods into me, I get so worried and panicked before them I need to keep them to a minimum. I'd not buy a Daytona so I don't want to test ride one.
The dealer has the F and the RR in, so it'll probably be between the two.

Fair comment Jen,I don't like test rides either and even when I've had one they never seem long enough to properly ascertain whether you are happy with the bike.
If you have your heart set on something ,bite the bullet and go for it.

A friend was thinking about selling his 06rr, if you end up going that way...

Dyzio, I think your friend will want more than I can afford for that RR!

Test rides are great. Hopefully I will be testing a few bikes soon too...
Good luck finding a new bike Jen :-)

Try a street triple!
Try a street triple!
nope, I want something with a fairing.
One of the biggest complaints I hear about the triple is the lack of fairings and wind blast. I honestly dont mind doing 300miles on the motorway to get to a decent ride out, and I cant imagine doing that without a fairing to hide behind!

If you can't afford an 06 plate RR, then I'm confused, because I thought we were talking about a new shape 600F ("tiny compared to the SV", "newer shape")?
Are you asking about this type of 600F? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201219469630716/
Or this one?

If the latter, I had one in the early 90's and it was a great bike then. You wouldn't regret one of those, far superior to your SV.
I meant I couldn't afford it through a private sale, will probably need a level of finance. The dealer is doing a deal on a full set of leathers, lid gloves and a textile jacket if I buy from them.

Gotcha - do the sums and see if it suits you though...
Just been out looking at kitchens today. B&Q are doing zero percent finance if you buy a kitchen and have it fitted by their fitters. It looked attractive because I have an offset mortgage, so at 0% the money is better left in the bank. When I enquired about the fitting charges, the difference between that and what I'd been quoted by my builder, way outweighed any interest I'd have to pay if I took a normal personal loan just to buy the kitchen and pay the builder. Whenever something seems attractive, somebody's making money somewhere or it wouldn't be on offer.
Getting a personal loan to buy a second hand bike on private sale, may actually work out much less expensive in the long run, than taking zero percent on a new bike.

The older 600F is still a damn good bike and worth considering though.
Yeah, dont worry - I'm not rushing into anything. All the sums will be checked out for the best deal. lol

The screen added to the triple is amazing. I road it without and seriously considered another bike. Depends what height you are but I do a lot of miles (I'm 5 7) and it deflects the wind straight over my helmet.
