Fancy yourself as a Thunderace replica?

Could be a bargain (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=184859)

I'd buy a ticket for that one !!

Maybe we should buy it between us all and operate it on a time-share basis.

Yeah, buy that Spank, then the ice comes, then let it rot in the garage for 4 months while I cane about the countryside in the mud.

Though the idea of a group buy Thunder Ace seems quite funny! £100 between everyone who turned up today!

Save £400 on the new plastics and then it's only really £500 for the bike :)

You could set up a "bunk garage" and one can drip fluids into the other.

you may as well strip the plastics off a 1700W hoover, same thing. Except the hoover won't boil its clutch fluid

A naked hoover. Hmmmm. I think you may be onto something there Job. Perhaps ripping all the aesthetic plastics off home appliances to have bare boned naked machinery all over the house. Now that'd be quality.

Tbh if I wind up being that tight for cash there's no way I'll buy it.

Which is likely,

On the other hand if I DO then you can just have any spare bits as and when you need them.

And diagnose sump plug problem, injector cleaner once?!, tape up fairing, adjust chain, other routine servicing things! Stuff you don't even remember cos you do it without thinking. Point is, there's no point paying someone else to do it with a bike of that value. Gotta do it yaself, else you end up paying as much for servicing as the bike costs in a coupla years! Sump plug was a very odd thing for a mechanic to do to any vehicle, never had problems with fuel system, fairing is fecked coz of dizzy mare at tesco, and you have to routinely service any vehicle if you want it to last, and it shouldn't need much doing, it says in the post "just serviced".

Make sure you get monthly insurance then in case you sell. Don't forget you will have zero no claims unless you split what you have on the current bike. Might be worth getting a quote!

Edit: Oh, and make sure you have space for 3 bikes, otherwise I will stab you.

I did quote with zero no claims, third party fire and theft would be £200.

Got room in my garage, plenty of space, would just need to move everyone else's crap that's cluttering it.

Couple of small tears on the seat and the key needs the occasional jemmying to turn it but I've had that on old bikes before.

Haven't taken her over 120 yes because the weather was a bit sketchy but only realised how fast I'd been when I got home and compared needle position to numbers. i've seen roughly 165 (before i ran out of runway) with plenty left to go, top ends not as pokey as new thou's but the ace is certainly aint no slouch compared to them and you'll be surprised how quickly it will get you to prison fodder territory.

if you really want to $hit your pants then take it up to the red in every gear, i don't actually think I've ever hit the throttle stop on mine, watch the front lifting tho .

That's the way of the Ace mate a mite unpredictable, but a lot of fun! Gav's right there ain't much that can out pull the Ace up to 'bout 150 or so and there's plenty left after that, I topped the clock on mine on the Autobahn just outside Monchengladbach, though I don't know how accurate the clock is as I doubt it's quite capable enough for 200 Mph.

@Spank 27th is fine mate.

Not a bad plan, Tesco were less than helpful, they have cameras all over the car park but was I allowed to have a butchers at the cctv to try and find the reg of the car the bint got into? Was I feck, so no one to claim against and a £300 bill to replace the plastics.:(
