Anyone got any experience of biking these areas around this time of year? Say early October?

Weather/campsites/places being open etc?

Nothings set in stone, just would like a heads up!

(Haggis this means you :) )

Cheers all, Sally

Weather - If it's blowing a hoolie you might want to take the coast road, but that wont be a day at the beach either. Hey, the tougher the journey the better the beer tastes, right?

Campsites - Yes, big one with showers, restaurants and a bar. Also including huts and caravans if you can't be bothered with the tent.

Places being open - The Applecross Inn, the campsite and the petrol station are all open. There isn't anything else...

Go for it - yes.

As Alan says the campsite is great!!! http://www.applecross.uk.com/campsite/ if you use it go round the hill in the middle the views are way better round the corner!!! When we were there there was a band on in the campsite bar and it looked a bit wild... being old I stayed away...

I've also used Ceol Na Mara B&B which is beautiful. It gets good ratings on trip advisor too http://www.ceolnamara-lochalsh.com/

I've had food in the lochcarron hotel, and was impressed with it... to be honest there's a fair amount of stuff to do in the area... But Applecross is basically the pub and a few houses... and the petrol pump (which is nice)...

When it comes to Applecross & Skye weather, what difference does the time of year make? The only difference is cold & wet vs freezing & wet. ;-)

I've never seen the view from the top of the Bealach Na Ba yet, and I've been up it a few times.

PM'd u an idea, Sally.

Prepare for wet, and hope it's not. It is a bit chilly tho, so plenty layers is good.
It has been dry more often than not, we made it to Inverness last week in summer gear no problem. :-)
