As the rest of Europe teeters on collapse, with millions of people in poverty, due to fat cats eating well, and generally making a mess of the little persons lives.......

Some footballer is docked 10 days pay of 200k, and not allowed to play with the boys coz he got a detention.

How can this drivel be such a top news story?

There is more important things going on in the world, but hey, this is what sheople like to hear!

Rather like the storm in a teacup over a minister most of us had never heard of calling someone a vaugely rude name. Annoying for the Rozzer on the gate but did it warrant headline news for days? Yet again the media ignores real news to berate a public figure for having the audacity to go to a public school, do well for themselves, get into a blinking hard job and work very long hours trying to improve the world for everyone else. Even my local paper is full of articles about people slagging off councillors, most of whom only want to serve therir community, also work long hours, get little or no moentary reward and just get knocked by people who'd never have the guts to do the job themselves. That's because the news has dumbed down to an extent that it does warrant day after day of pointless drivel

Paul the 6th was right in his thread, its best to ignore it now, you'll feel much happier.

Ahhh, right.
Well, I don't watch the news often, as I'm usually busy, so only catch fragments. As Peggyleg is off work we sat over lunch, and can't believe what drivel is there. Tbh, we were concerned about the Greek/Spanish crisis which was on the other day, so was in the mind the Euro, may have been a hot topic again........obviously not!

Although I agree with the op, it's better than telling us they have discovered 2000 more species of PLANGTON!!! Which was a top story on bbc breakfast the other morning.

I cannot understand how the FA can find terry guilty when there was no evidence or conviction in a criminal court???

.....you have got to be kidding!

And in agreement, much as I loath football and couldn't give a monkeys, not guilty in a criminal court, shouldn't then be ignored and a punishment dished out anyway. I couldn't understand that either.

Still, imo it doesn't warrant more important issued be set aside, it should be one of the 'and finally' stories!

Quite normal to be found guilty or to blame or whatever in a civil action or an employers disciplinary despite being not guilty in a court.
I know of someone who was sacked for theft, quite legally, but found not guilty of the same theft in court.
And employers want more rights to sack staff.

JT, verdict may have been not guilty, but that was because they couldn't prove beyond a doubt, not that he was innocent. And the most important story to the uk at the moment is obviously a stupid teenage girl running away to france with her boyfriend, let's hear lot's more about that please.

It's beyond reasonable doubt, so if they can't prove that he has no case to answer.

Whole jt case just stinks of knee jerk reaction rather than finding out the truth.

The burden of proof in a civil matter are less than required for a criminal case

The reason is not any conspiracy of what "they" want you to hear.

The reason is the majority of the population are mindless amoebas who think that wearing a particular coloured shirt and frolicking in the grass with other boys has some particular importance. As such the press, being in the business of selling their version of what's important, exercise their own capitalist freedom to make money as they see fit, simply giving people what they want.

If you want information on interesting things... probably best to stay off the "news" channels...

what did annoy me was a BBC reporter somewhere, tihnk I heard it on radio "news is all about the negatives". I thought what a worthless kn*bhead. In the BBC, an organisation with far more freedom from financial pressure than others, they should have a sense of morality to try to inspire others a little, not just to show doom and black.
