EDIT: Sold to Squirrel_Hunter. May the engine be bored out and fitted to a monster SV.
Hi All, I'm out of touch with the going rate for SVs these days. I'm thinking of moving house in the spring, so thought if I was to sell my SV before I moved, I should do it now as it'd be 'winter project' time.
My well used SV650S has been up on stands in my garage for three and a half years and hasn't turned a wheel. Battery was removed and was stuck on an optimate (works fine as I've used it to start other bikes in the intervening period), I put a teaspoon of oil in the spark plug holes and chucked some fuel stabiliser in the tank before leaving it. The bike itself has been crashed a couple of times (but always checked over by a dealer afterwards), so the odd scrape/ding but is in generally fair aesthetic condition given the age/mileage.
Mechanically, it was serviced and running fine until just before I retired it and the last 500 miles or so it had developed a slight amount of clutch slip. The forks leak oil very slightly (have ridden close to 10K miles with them that way, with no ill effects). The other problem is that it has had a very slow oil leak for the past 15K miles or so that I couldn't identify the source of. This is your typical one or two drops after you parked it up, but over the time, it has slowly dripped all over the floor and I've kept topping it up and replacing the cardboard soaking the oil up. Again, a niggling problem, but it looks a lot worse than it is when the bike is used regularly.
Now, the good bits:
It has an official suzuki hugger,
single seat unit as well as the pillion seat,
Nitron rear sport shock (which was rebuilt about 6K miles back before I retired it),
Matris Fork internals,
R&G crash bungs (some wear on RHS one)
spare black DB screen,
mirror extenders,
braided Goodridge front hoses fitted,
rear Goodridge hose still in box, never fitted
a box of spare parts (including some consumables like oil filters, pads, etc),
a Haynes manual,
adaptors for the bike for the Abba stand (ideally I would take sensible offers on the stand with the bike, rather than sell it seperately)
I mainly just want a rough idea so I can decide whether to flog it (in which case, this will become the 'for sale' thread), or whether it's worth taking to my new place and continuing to daydream about one day finding the time to do it up.
I know I'd get most money by putting the bike back to stock, selling the trick bits and spares seperately and then either selling the bike as spares/repairs as it is, or spending £100 and a bit of time in replacing the clutch plates and tidying it up and selling it on. I am realistic, however, and know that as I've not found time to do this in the past 3.5 years, I'm unlikely to in future either. I also know it won't be worth a lot. So, I'd like to know:
A) What's the whole lot worth, roughly as it is at present (just so I know in case I end up putting it on ebay).
B) Is anyone here interested in buying it (you've need a van/trailer to collect, bike is located in Barry, South Wales).
Thanks in advance, oh mighty .org.
