Very excited..
I've bought my mates GSXR-600 after he threw it into the side of a car (that pulled out on him).
He's just dropped it off with the aid of his mate and his van.
Winter project, here we come.
Pics to follow.. :D

If all the running gear is straight you've got a bargain there.

Hope so :)
All the plastics are broken / scratched (with the exception of the rear seat cover) and the front sub frame is broken.
I'm unsure about the forks at the moment, but I don't know if it's an optical illusion because of how the fairing is hanging off. I hope to get it stripped back this weekend so I can have a good look at it.
Stay tuned..

+1 on that Tom!
even by eye you'll not know for sure if they're straight or not.
last thing you want to do is find out only after you've spent a load of time and money rebuilding it only to stuff it at the first highspeed bend.

ROFL!
If anyone can tell you how to strap abstract objects securely to the bike its this man. Just FFS dont forget you've got a 3ft wide back end when you're trying to filter ;)

They're in for a strip down and a roll on a flat surface followed by a good going over with a straight edge before it comes to that..!

Right..
Had a bit of a strip down, and come to the conclusion that most of the plastic is knackered.
The radiator is leaking (there's coolant coming from somewhere and I presume it's the rad), Front sub frame is broken (we knew that) the headlight is missing pretty much every bracket it came with (we didn't know that).
and two fairing brackets have sheared off.. one from the fork and one from the sump. :(
Still not convinced about the forks.. oh, and one of the front disks is definately bent.
Bike post strip down..

Yeah, it's a K5.
Had another look at the forks this morning, either the forks are bent or the yokes are twisted. Job for the weekend - Find out which :smt120

Ok, time for another update..
The forks are off, and one of them is slightly bent (runs out by about 1mm at the bottom end, left fork) and the yoke is slightly twisted on the right. Again, fractionally, but it means when the bottom yokes are tightened, the top doesn't sit quite square on the forks / stem.
Bad times.

There's also, a bit of a hole in the radiator..

I'm not sure you can see it in that picture, but trust me, it's there..
There seems to be a place in Malton that straightens forks / yokes, I'm waiting to hear back from them, if not, they might be getting posted off to motoliner (along with the bent disks).
Anyone know of any other place that straightens forks around Yorkshire?
Also, I was toying with the idea of getting a replacement rad from america. There are a few on ebay, generally they seem more plentiful than the UK ones, in better condition, and, even after the postage has been paid, more than £50 cheaper. Anyone have any horror stories getting stuff from the states..?

You've got duty to pay on most items from the states, you're looking at around £14 as a charge for them telling you what else you owe so unless the tax works out less than £36 then you're still better off buying from the UK.

or speak to "uncle" banannaman who sends you your bike bits with a lovely birthday card telling you to stop crashing :)
