That thing will literally be a 6.5 tonne coffin! But what a way to go out!

It looks rather too overcomplicated to get the job done, the fairly simple Thrust SSC (bolt two jet engines on a streamline body generating massive downforce) had reliability problems at the salt flats.

yea, but youd get a few turned heads down sainsburys car park...

Have been following the Bloodhound Diary entries for a while. Wonderful example of project planning and pushing the boundaries of engineering. Fingers crossed it works!

that is so cool!! imagine pulling away from the traffic lights and melting the police car that's behind you! :smt005:smt077:reaper::smt059

It couldn't even turn in to a Sainsbury's Car park!

My main take away from that article was that it is using a formula 1 engine.... as a fuel pump!!!

Cool innit :smt101

Call facet... "200 litres an hour? Do you do anything a bit bigger....?"

Been following this for some time. Deeply cool.

There was a lovely interview a while back where one of the main engineers said they'd been talking with Richard Noble about doing a 1,000mph car and telling him it was quite impossible. So then they set out to prove why it would be impossible, and started breaking down each of the challenges you'd need to get past. Well, that kind of looks like an engineering project now doesn't it? :D

It sounds like they couldn't decide what to run it on-
How about an F1 engine, they're fast.
How about a jet engine, they're faster.
How about a rocket, they're faster.
.
.
.
How about all three?!

That car or should I say the concept car was at northampton college when i was doing my apprenticeship in painting.

I was on the news ages ago standing next to it and chatting to richard noble. I was presenting a project of mine at the same time too!

I'll have to dig out some pics, and I must say the thing is huge!
