Think it's cos no rides are being organised. If I wasn't going away this weekend I would be all over this mother hubbard. I think a few other peeps are busy too.

I've been working for a change and TBH when I have been here there's not been a lot to comment on.

Once we have a ride in the offing there's plenty of opportunity to go off on tangents but when there's nothing we lack material.

i agree, no rides -> nothing to whine and slate each other about

I started a new college 2 days ago (now bogged down in work) and im now working at the white heart (trial shift went fine) so i have excuses ;o

First 'commute' on the bike per say today and holy f**k its satisfying filtering through miles of rush hour traffic

Good on yer' mate, carry on like that and you'll soon be a traffic bully like me!

Pah! I've been sorely underwhelmed by the general quality of filtering displayed. It's the one place I can still whip your collective asses.

I'll take that challenge.

Really I think you'll find on our rideouts I'm the monster that keeps the bullying car driving c**ts at bay, and when we enter towns I fall to the back, hanging out in the middle of the road making my own lane as if to say to the guys in front "go on then" but still they refuse to pay attention, I can hardly be described as a filtering coward, in fact I recall you telling me off for filtering on the left, but I did so coz there was a gap! And my opinion of traffic islands are well known in the GM, eg: they don't exist!

The biggest barrier to my filtering is usually that I don't know where we're going so I can't roam off too far or that there's bikes in front.

By 'quality of filtering' do you mean we don't hoon down between traffic risking slamming into the side of a lane changing car?

Both fair points but Spank I'm with you on this and El-Presidente shame on you, you should be predicting/anticipating what the cagers are gonna do!:smt026

Pah! Anticpation of what other road users are gonna do is essential, but you need ESP to predict what a line of stationary or very slow moving cars are gonna do. The only thing you can anticipate is that if there is a gap in one lane someone from anywhere might try and fill it. Since in slow moving traffic there are normally gaps opening every 3 or 4 cars or so, I filter slowly!

So you try to hit the gals when the cars are at least partially parallel and up the speed so you minimise moments in danger.
