The guy did two practice jumps earlier to test the systems and life support (successfully, obviously) but this is way higher than the record set back in the middle of the last century. I think he's nuts but then anyone who deliberately throws themselves out of a perfectly servicable aircraft or balloon is nuts in my book!

Buggeration. I'd love to see this. Reckon it'll take a while to get him up to the jump height.

I wonder how they're going to get the balloon down?

BTW I can't see any difference in the above links.

I think it said it'll take about 3 hours to get up there from launch

The balloon will eventually burst then the 'pod' will prob just fall back to earth.

Correct. If you go on to the site there are pics of them recovering the pods after the practice/trial run jumps.

Watching it live right now - they even have a "mission control", clearly set up for the viewing audience.

Bugger - it's been scrubbed due to high winds. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

They're talking about Thursday for another go now. Apparently they chose Roswell as it's not windy there - except this week :(.

It's all a cover up!

Where did I put my tin foil hat?
