Wideboy

Tax it online?

Fallout
10-10-12, 01:18 PM
You fool! I thought you were supposed to be experienced in these matters gav! You can't tax it online until it's registered at your address V5C style. Now go and do some knitting, you senile old granny.

Mark_h
10-10-12, 02:13 PM
And it's almost certainly a ringer anyway so it will need several revisions to the V5 to get the registration, frame and engine numbers to line up just before the rozzas come and confiscate it anyway.

Spank86
10-10-12, 02:51 PM
It'll be fine, the police are next to useless, they'll only find out its stolen if I get caught dogging.

Fallout
10-10-12, 02:59 PM
When was the last time you were caught dogging?

Spank86
10-10-12, 03:06 PM
I've never been caught dogging...

...I'm sneaky like that.

Wideboy
10-10-12, 03:16 PM
Well I dont bluddy know, calm down dear!!! I've never bothered with tax

Thunderace
10-10-12, 04:09 PM
You don't need the V5 to tax it, just the new keeper tear off bit!

Mark_h
10-10-12, 04:18 PM
To do it online you need full V5.
To do it at a post office you need to show insurance cover.
I'm sure his spankiness would have sorted it by now if it were sortable with the bits he has.

Thunderace
10-10-12, 05:05 PM
Insurance + New keeper slip + MOT + £60ish + post office = Tax disc.

Fallout
10-10-12, 05:16 PM
Yes, but spankydoodledandy is waiting for his insurance carp before he can do it, so Gav in all his infinite wisdom suggested the internet, which requires the code on the V5C which has been registered in your name/address. So SpankyDoddleDanglies is taxless!

I reckon he should just ride around with £60ish quid stuffed into the tax disc holder and if he gets stopped by a traffic warden, tell them to get their act together!

Spank86
10-10-12, 05:16 PM
And I'm waiting on the insurance certificate,

I could have phoned them Monday and asked for a cover note but it should be here by Friday anyway.

Mark_h
10-10-12, 05:27 PM
Do I smell a Sunday ride-out thread in the wind?
Not sure if I can do Sunday but I know I can't do Saturday.

Get to it SpankyDoodleDandy.

Thunderace
10-10-12, 05:27 PM
Its quite unusual for them not to email it to you?

Spank86
10-10-12, 05:38 PM
That's what I thought but since I have no printer it's not a big issue.

Fallout
10-10-12, 06:20 PM
I wonder if you could log on to your email from your phone and show them it for evidence? I suspect not, though it'd be pretty stupid to accept a print out but not a printable document!

Spank86
10-10-12, 06:24 PM
I wasn't going to tell them it was a print out,

I was very tempted just to fake it.

Fallout
10-10-12, 06:27 PM
But I'm pretty sure they have to accept a print out, otherwise people using online insurers like Swift Cover could never prove they had insurance. So by that logic, an online version of it shown on a smart phone should do, not that it matters in this scenario, but you just know they wouldn't accept that.

Spank86
10-10-12, 06:29 PM
They might at south wonston shop.

Fallout
10-10-12, 06:30 PM
Only if they recognise you, otherwise you'd get the buckshot. Actually, I vaguely remember trying to get a tax disc there years ago and I don't think they do them.

Spank86
10-10-12, 06:35 PM
Probably not,

They're stupidly difficult to get.

For a government so short of money you'd think they'd make it easier.

Fallout
10-10-12, 06:39 PM
True. Look on the bright side though, you are now allowed to stab burglars to death, so they are doing some things right.

Spank86
10-10-12, 06:39 PM
Yeah.

On a completely and utterly unrelated note do you want to come over for coffee sometime, the dress code is black and white stripes.

Fallout
10-10-12, 06:40 PM
Yeah of course. I've remembered your door is broken and I'm to come in through the window and also return the crowbar you leant me.

Spank86
10-10-12, 06:46 PM
Nice one.

If you could also get all the spare parts off thunderace Nd bring them over.

I think he's got them in a sack marked swag.

Bike is now taxed and ready to rock, at least until the mot runs out on the 21st.

Due to the palaver involved in doing this admin updates have been delayed, they'll now take place on Friday/Saturday but I don't anticipate much in the way of changes before then.
