Guys,

Not a regular on here (tbh never scrolled down this far in the forum topics to see this!) but my gf and I want a ride out tomorrow and never been to loomies so I think will try and head there for about 10.30-11am. Be on a silver 03 pointy and purple Kawasaki er5, if you spot us come say hi.

Mark_h
13-10-12, 09:35 PM
Assuming I can be bothered to attend tomorrow I'll head for Tesco.

quik_d

My naked silver SV1000 is a fairly easy one to spot (And hear) Thunderace will be on an old-school red and white thunderace. Jammy will be trying to get an orange SV back up from the floor somewhere. We should be fairly easy to spot.

Everyone else will probably be on something common or so new we don't know what it looks like yet.

We're actually a lot nicer than this forum can make us sound (Apart from Thunderace when he runs out of B6). Where are you based? If in the Fleet/Aldershot area, head for the Aldershot Tesco for 08:45 ish and join us for a ride towards Loomies.

On a different note, due to the weather getting a bit nippy I thought I'd dig out my old leathers as they are extremely warm & comfy, well after 15 mins or so squeezing into them and nearly busting a blood vessel putting my boots on I've decided I'm to fat to fit in them any more. This realisation came to me when I had to get Mrs Ace to help me get the trousers off.

Excellent impromptu bimble.

15 bikes is not a bad turn out when it's sub-zero in parts.

Guess who managed to brake down on the way home ........
Stalled at junction. Restarted, revved to 5k then stalled. Sort of ran if you kept revs over 6k

Luckily I managed a road-side repair to get home.

I'll be posting something in the main forum to see if the "keen helpers" can diagnose what's wrong from the described symptoms. I suspect it will draw some impressively speculative responses.

I'll be drafting the appropriate points allocations later but given I'm hopeless can anyone fill in anyone I missed :-

Quite a few technical problems, with broken radiators, break downs, running out of fuel and the like. My speedo decided to stop working on the way home. I was doing clutchless upshifting and suddenly noticed it was reading 0 in 6th gear. Dropped it down a gear and it worked. Looked back shortly afterwards and it was 0. Then seemed to work on and off all the way home.

Since the gixxer has the speed sensor on the gearbox, I suppose it could be something in there rather than the digital display itself. I've had the front sprocket cover off recently for clutch cable and sprocket/chain changing shananigans, and it was properly grimey in there. Possible somethings come loose or my laziness in cleaning has come back to haunt me.

I really need to sort out the fuelling/air problem causing the banging.

made an interesting interlude to the day even if my fuel light decided to work only after the tank was dry, but many thanks to quik_d for the ltr of fuel to get to the petrol station, saved an hours wait for recovery and allowed me to do a few more hours riding after leaving you all, Scoob's glad you made it back mate and the gum held, Adam, nice job on the paint and Laurie bike is gorgeous (but then having owned one myself I would say that), from 7am to 6.15 pm, two fryups and a burger, 6 cups of tea and a pint (as well as my flask), 245 miles and put in £47.18 of petrol, that's me for today, done.

Cheers Mark.
