Morning all

I have looking for recommendation for a cheap, reliable commuter. I love my SV but it is increasingly uncomfortable, makes my arms and back ache during my commute also MPG could be better.

I'm looking for maybe a cheap naked or adventure bike, does any one have any recommendation of what I could get for the price of a Curvy SV?

Anything considered just not Sports bikes.

I used to have a ZZR600 which did more miles per tank nearly 50-60 more.

Zzr holds more petrol .
Had one back in94 .
Comfy and capable true.
But you might be able to use a 125 depending on your route .
Lots of 125 scooter things about.
I thought about one ,but a proper bike is more fun at end of day.
400 cc zzr on ebay

If you tried raising the clip ons on the SV might that help ?
Better the devil you know .
You looking a quite a bit of cash for the Honda.
Though from its reviews it does seem perfect for the job.

You need new ones like Gilles or Harris .
Some of the RSV owners have done this.some times you need to trim the fairing and extend cables

A lot of faffing, lol. Are there any bikes I could swap the SV for that you can think of?

You might find a cheap GPZ 500/ER 5 .
But you know your bike. it's better than the kawasaki.
You might get something else then find out it goes wrong.
Major messing about then.

I've recently got an 2002 Fazer 600 and it's brilliant for my commute.

I think you need to focus in on EXACTLY what you want the bike to do for you.

If you simply want a "commuter" there are plenty of very practical bikes (including scoots), very economical to run, with varying degrees of weather protection and storage, but you'll probably find them very boring for anything other than commuting.

If you want a more comfortable all-round bike which you can ALSO use for commuting, it's a different set of choices.

13miles is a bit of an in-between mileage, long enough to warrant a capable machine, but not long enough to necessarily need a hard-core commuter.

Tbh I don't use my bike other than to commute, I may occasionally take my son to his girlfriends if my wife has the car. Other than that I'm at home or in the car with the family.

My commute is 17 miles and I regret selling my sv..
It was spot on for the sustained 80mph 8 mile bit.
Ace through the middle of town.
Excellent fun going the twisty way home in the sunshine.
Well behaved in the pouring rain.
