Hi Chaps,
i joined the forum last year after i got a bike again after 29 years of non ownership. Ive had immense fun throwing myself into the bendy bits of the east lothian and borders areas. Bike is a standard pointy 650, (under 5k miles when i got it on an 04 plate), as a mechanic i do all servicing myself, just done the 7.5K service, and bought a carbtune II balancer kit from a friend for £30. Bargain. Bike runs like a dream after balancing. Have removed swing arm and greased bearings. Am finally getting used to engine braking, wont be buying any brake pads for a while. I have size 13 feet and am looking to extend the gear lever a bit for comfort. Apart form those tiny points, i always have a huge grin on my face when i come home from a run out, which is all that matters.
Cheers the noo.

Hope you are not too old to stick a rude can on the thing. Then fall in love all over again.

Wow 29 years without a bike, what did you do to deserve that.

probably done what i done. gave away all the gear, got married, had kids, no disposable income then got to a stage in my life where i had some disposable income so decided i'm having another bike :-)

Hi Plink63,
Similar story here. Had my last bike in '85ish. Bought my SV early this year and have found it ideal for the twisty roads up here. My plan was to run the SV for a year then change to something like a Street triple. Not sure about that plan now as the SV does all I want.

Hi Chaps, to answer some comments, i'm just outside musselburgh, started life on a KH250 in '81 got rid in '83 due to electrical failings, unemployment and never did my test until '07. I had ridden can-am 250's and armstrong 500's for a time when i volunteered to wear some camouflage pyjamas for some years. Bibio is correct in what he says, it got to the point when it was time to stop thinking about it and start doing it again. Present shift pattern willing i hope to get out and about a lot more. Cheers the noo.
