You'd have to put it on after the gate (identity check). Then it might count as hand luggage, some airlines restrict you to one item.
BTW a burkka isn't religious its cultural.

Way up to the sky?

Yes you can. You hang in there cupcake, you're special. Just 'cos you lick windows and occasionally crap yourself, I don't care. Go for it. You CAN fly.

I imagine you could take it onboard in your hand luggage, then place it on your bonce during takeoff. I don't think the crew would be happy about it but I'm not sure either that they'll be able to explain why :P

You cannot wear your helmet on the plane.
You can put it in a helmet bag and claim it as your carry-on bag.

It won't fit overhead so you'll have to store it under the seat.
That being the downside. It sticks out from under the seat and that cramps your leg room, especially on long flights but I did bring my Shoei to the UK for AR10 and will again next year.

I put my gloves inside the helmet, that left room to put my phone and camera inside the bag once on the plane.

X-rayed like all other carry-ons but no one asked to look inside and no one took any kind of special notice that I was carrying a helmet. Apparently it's quite common.

Check your airlines dimentions for carry-on's on their website.
You'll need one of the smaller helmet bags.
As long as the dimentions are close, no one checked that either.

Fairly cheap anywhere that sells off roading kit. Usually find a sale this time of year.

The burkka differs as it used to disguise suicide bombers boarding planes and offers no real protection in the event of a crash so is perfectly acceptable attire..

Last time we went to Almeria the only mate who was carrying a helmet onto the plane was stopped at security and had to put his helmet in the hold.

Apparently they were afraid he would put it on in flight and start head butting folk.

Because in case of rapid decompression by the time you've faffed about taking the thing off (possibly having trouble due to the strap and panic) you may not have time to get your oxygen mask on?

We wouldn't allow you to wear it for take off or landing, however we have no problem with you brining it on board as hand luggage. I carried a well known racer and his 2 sons all with helmets.
