If you can wire a plug you could do the wiring for easily

TBH i don't think i would mess about with 240v and would rather use 12v and a wall wart.

the picture above has given me an idea to use a GSXR one then i could wire up the HS clicker with a rotary switch to turn it on and off or even just replace it with a toggle switch :-)

Surely if you're going to use an adjustable control, the right thing to do is fit it with a dimmer...

I've made lamps out of a number of things, but never thought of using a shock.

Off to check contents of work bin for inspiration...

The second best is strip it and jam the spring on a 2006 ZX10 shock!

I love this lamp though, I still have an old chain and sprocket det from a mates Triumph that I did......
