Struggling a bit with location hunting. I've found a few places, including the disused Micheldever RAF fuel depot, but there will be loads of problems associated with that I'm sure. It's not the sort of site you could park up at, spend the day messing about on then head home. It'd be 'covert' and that's too much of a headache with all that needs to get done. I can't see permission being granted by the weekend either.

The fall back plan will be a multi-story car park somewhere, since you're legally allowed in there, and obviously we can park up with all the kit. Any other ideas useful though at this time!

Main requirements:
- Quietish (at the weekend)
- Spacious enough to walk about a bit and still have the building in shot
- Industrial looking. Concrete/metal.
- Reasonably close to somewhere we can park as we may need to return to the car for props, equipment, food etc.
- In GM area

Any thoughts?

Also trains still go past the fuel dump iirc so there would be a need to quickly hide. There's two dissused raf bases in the forest but nothing much left of buildings and such, the remains of raf hamble were bulldozed a while back.

A bit far maybe but there's the big airship hangers in cardington bedfordshire. Been the a while back they are really derelict looking and I'm sure they'd let you in

Dissused buildings up on portsdown hill (again permission probably needed).

If you head up the a34 northbound, just as you get out the 50mph zone out of oxford on the northside there is a massive old building that's been abandoned and its covered in graffiti with lots of open space around it so enough to film with it in the back ground

Hope this works

Yeah, me and keating looked into buying it but it was too pricey.

Yeah and I'd rather buy that than a house, its massive

Cheers homeboys. I really like that link you posted gave to that building by the motorway Gav. Could see it quite well from google street view, but I reckon it's too far away to rekkie or expect people to travel to. Big shame. I found quite a lot of industrial sites nearby to Tadley actually, but they're all in use so would require serious blagging to get access.

Ad, that camp may do. Looks a bit too green now but definitely worth a look. Do you know where abouts it is and if it's easily accessible?

Found it, I think, off badger farm road. Definitely worth a look. You got any days off this week?

You could go and see the childish idiot (other opinions are available) who runs the airsoft shop DIRECTLY OPPOSITE the junior school by me. He may let you access his venues and has an entire shop full of SCARY OUTFITS ON DISPLAY DIRECTLY OPPOSITE A SCHOOL FOR 5 to 10 YEAR OLDS.

I'm not asking him as unfortunately my views on his choice of location for his shop would likely be the focus of the conversation.

Link to shop with scary window directly opposite the school (http://www.socomtactical.net/)

By the way I do have a bit of an issue with this guys choice of location for his shop... Not sure if that has been mentioned. Mind you he has tamed his window of late.

friday, yup that one, the one I've repeatedlymentioned in the thread previously.

Easy to get to but not much parking on the entranceway and a little walk from the road.

Ahh, yes. Googly street view shows a gate. I've seen people park there so probably dog walkers use it. It looks suitably far from anyone who may get miffed at us being there though, so I think it's worth a try. Rekkie friday? If weather is good could also have a quick ride.

I'll carry on looking for alternatives this week too. And Mark, I think I'll give your nemesis a miss. Wouldn't want to give him the pleasure of our company, although he could inadvertently be chainsawed to death if that helps.

I'd look for somewhere out of the way, generally then you don't need to ask be there. Well I'm off to go film in a strip club, a bit different to the w/end.

If I were you give your limted kit, I'd look for somewhere with as much natural light as much as it as possibale, then use polyboard to create a fill and lift features on the face. If you want bounce something like a flood light off it, then vary distance to the subject so it isn't too hot. If the weather was like this w/end that should work. I'd only use a flood light when the light starts to fade though.

Yeah, I think I'm onto a good trick with bridges. Bridges are in public domain and also very industrial looking. For example, minor roads which should be quite quiet (in terms of traffic) running under the M3 look like this. (https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=51.197835,-1.196142&spn=0.001839,0.005284&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=51.197693,-1.196141&panoid=f0OfNiUd0-tK2FiBzr5Ebw&cbp=12,313.15,,0,4.93) The only negative here is that lighting maybe a bit suspect and there could be significant road noise from the traffic above.

Either way, continuing my hunt for large but quiet bridges in the local area. Suggestions welcome from fellow GMers with local knowledge.

Again I know of one but it in the middle of the new forest so a bit far.

You mentioned multi storey carparks, the one in the centre of Aldershot has no cctv and harldy anyone parks on the top 2 floors due to the local yoofs and their herbal cigarettes and you can access the roof!

Just an idea!

Fallout

If everyone is game, we can try a few locations. If Ad is up for the rekkie of the old barracks on Friday, then we'll check that, bridges along the M3 and can try that multi-story if the other locations aren't suitable. Do you know if that car park is open on a Sunday? They're normally dead quiet then as most of the town is closed.

Ad, what is that building like inside and can we access it without prying eyes? Might be worth having on the list in case an internal location seems necessary, especially if it looks a bit run down or industrial.

Spank86

I can take you up there on friday if you want and you can look yourself.

I'd prefer to start quite early if we are going to look at these places.

On Sundays there is a carboot on the ground floor but up top should be pretty quiet!

It's the road the runs from the back of Emery down I beleive. The Red SHoot is in the opposite direction from Lyndhurst from there. Just watch out for Red Deer along there, they can be grumpy so and so's at this time of year.
