View Full Version : The Hypothetical Situation
This situation is hypothetical;
Common sense does not apply nor does logical thinking.
None of your actions would affect your family or loved ones, you are a loner and have no dependants.
The vehicle has no traceable marks.
Time inside is a guarantee-they've already seen too much
Police Chase
You are riding/driving along at high speeds on your favourite roads in/on a superbike/supercar. You glance in your mirror and see the Police behind you, blues and twos on trying to keep up. The vehicle your driving is far more capapble than that of the police.
Do you drive on and try to lose the tail?
Or stop and face the consequence?
Your chance of get away is 50/50
EDIT
**Forgot to post a poll**
Would you try to lose the tail?
Yes
No
Can someone edit please!!!

Yes - judging by those Police/Camera/Action and RoadWars programmes, the worst you're looking at is getting on telly and being asked to paint the local guide hut (as long as it doesn't inflame your RSI or infringe your human rights too much).
Actually - no.

By the time you seen the Blues, game over!! If you can see the blues in the twisties they've got your plate (Real world)
Hypothetical, yes but very bloody unlikely. Anyone that ridden if any of the orgs resident police will tell you that, (I couldn't keep up on roads I know very very well)

Hypothetically speaking you understand, if the situation were to occur, say for instance within a few miles of known refuge I would hightail it the 'ell out of it. ;-)

Yes.
They don't even have wheels.

Having been in this situation before...
For a second I thought about it. I'm on a Blackbird the 5-0 is in a cage. The Bird is not mine. I can out run it. I knock it down a cog. Then sense hits me and I pull in. But thats real world.
In the land of make believe I'll go for it. Yeah me.
Yes.
They don't even have wheels.
ah, but do they need them. travelling at the speed of light to the nearest stinger site.... ;-)
sod it, lets at least give 'em a run for their money...
I'd go for it, why not. Nothing to lose (in this situation) :smt072:smt071:smt068:smt077

Do it - give everyone a buzz - The Old Bill Security Co included!
They'll thank you for relieving the tedium of their humdrum existences.
Where's the Keith'd option ;)
There isn't one, straight choice - cop out isn't an option.

Even in this hypothetical scenario I would pull in and cough up.
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
A potential speeding fine/ban is preferable to me hypothetically loosing it on a corner at 100mph+ trying to evade said fuzz and perhaps wiping out myself or more worryingly a hypothetical mother and small child crossing the road.
Even with odds as good as 50/50 I'd pull over.
run. hide the bike. strip it down and get rid of the frame and crank cases.
when plod come to door deny all knowledge and can't be me as i've not been out on the bike, look its over....... shizz it's been stolen...

Take your helmet off. They can't chase you then :-?
*cough* in a galaxy far far away, many moons ago (34 yrs ago about 8 miles away) I did that. I nipped down a street that had been blanked off with concrete bollards. I go thro' and they didn't. I found them waiting for me when I got home.
Strangely enough, we seemed to meet up on a fairly regular basis.

I used to high tail it all the time-----me on my little legs and plod on his bike-----he couldn't climb walls.
Trouble was he did not have defective eyesight and would either kick my behind or belt my ear when he caught up with me.

I put yes, but purely because you put 'time inside is a guarantee' so I've obviously done something pretty nooooortay! In that case, leg it. If it was a bog standard speeding thing, then I'd pull over.
Always read the question thoroughly! :D

Running from the police is a far greater crime here than anything you could have been doing on the road.
If it's a 50/50 chance I'd stop.
You can hide but you can't run.

would the cops over there risk taking a shot at you if you legged it?

Is that because you get put on the telly with Sheriff John Burnell, in the Worlds Craziest Police Chases?

What risk? If you refuse to STOP when ordered, and they can't catch you, they can shoot you. (On foot)
In a vehicle chase they will likely crash you. They have pushbars on the front of Police cars and they are trained to do just that.
May also set up a roadblock or lay spike strips in the road.
Shooting is final effort to end a pursuit. Rare but it does happen.

Please don't tell Americans that.
You'll start a crimewave of idiots trying to get on the tellie!

If Im going down anyway Im gonna go down in flames.
At the point its one car v's one car/bike then **** it, why not enjoy your last few minutes of a licence.
When it gets to road blocks and helicopters then pull over get off/out, hands up, biggest smile on your face quoting "that was ****ing awesome, we'll have to do it again some time".... the police WILL have enjoyed it just as much as I would.
In reality, pull over ponder the million things I may be able to say to get me out of a ticket whilst been too panic'd to think of anything remotely clever to say.
