I used to do them every year for work but haven't done one this year.
I had an extra difficulty though as I was not allowed to use knives at work (due to me being accident prone)
so I had to use a spoon.

This was fine though as I very rarely actually cut through the pumpkin. I usually scraped the pumpkin so it was thin and the light just shone through and then cut certain bits out like windows of a haunted house or eyes of a ghost etc.

I grow mine, and then EAT THEM!

Carving silly desins into them and them throwing them away seems a dreadful waste of food to me. They make wonderful soup (correction - Lady Poppy makes wonderful soup from them) and pumpkin pie nicely seasoned with nutmeg and cinamon is a cracking winter pudding.

I've bought one for the first time this year (own house) n its huge, not sure if i like pumpkin, but you can be sure the inners* are getting eaten anyways. Inbuilt not to waste food or me. I'm also a reduction raider... so prob just a tight wad

*prob start with this

This man was detained by police after reports of him scribing a design on the face of a pumpkin..
http://proceedings.esri.com/library/userconf/proc99/proceed/papers/pap586/p5868.jpg

these children were taken in for questioning following rumours of a halloween party, involving the use of food other than in accordance with current fruit salad conventions..

And here the fun police were called to an address where 5 men and 2 women were reported to be 'bobbing for apples'..

A+ well done Elliott - not as hard as it looks is it? I was surprised as I'd never done one before and thought it would be a really tricky job. Getting the design right with a pencil is half the job, but scraping and cutting (even with a kitchen knife slightly too large for the job) was really straight forward.

Looking forward to next years already :D

I have one to attempt. Never done it. Likely to be a disaster knowing me!

I'll have you know the correct description is eccentric.

Just so you all know I had roast pumpkin and roast parsnip (both from my garden) with Sunday dinner last night. Very nice they were too. As some of my pumpkins got to be beach ball sized we will have a "little" bit of it in the freezer for quite a while...

Paul: what you do with freak vegetables ( and fruits ) in the privacy of your own home is your businesss.
But, when they are extra large . . .

Here's our pumpkin

Spent a good hour carving it

Using a red LED bicycle lamp as it's too windy for tea lights
