View Full Version : Got myself a naked curvy
Hello all. New around here, and have just bought my first sv.
I also have a ZX6R, but after leaving my job I thought I best downgrade for something cheaper to run and insure. So, here it is. It's got a givi rack and renegade dual exhausts. Besides that its all standard, runs fine and looks in good nick.
However, I've a question for anyone with dual exhausts. How do you deal with the chain on top of the pipe, and the side stand on the bottom... My current plan is to get small pieces of metal welded for protection...
Oh and after having the chain quickly adjusted by the local garage, they've told me they found a tight spot. Is this something to worry about?

I'm not a genius mechanically. But pretty sure a tight spot is normal ware and tear for a chain. And when adjusting slack on a chain it should be adjusted measuring from the tightest spot*
*an inch measured at the tightest spot

looks mint, but then I be a tad biased :D Welcome to the .org!
Soo then, welcome now over, am I right in assuming you have a working rev counter? Thought about getting some different/snazzier/gixxer clocks? *
*Phase 1 of my evil plan is complete...seed of modification firmly planted...

Cool nice bike, shame it's not a black one though eh.
Re. tight spot, find where it is, brush some engine oil into it and work it by hand until it frees off.
Clocks work, but I'd love something more visually appealing. Don't worry, got plenty of plans. Thinking belly pan, dual headlights, rear hugger, maybe new bars and bar ends.
Loving the exhausts though, they look awesome from behind. They are obscenely loud though, and still have the baffles in!
Agree Chris, not the biggest fan of the yellow. However, this was a bargain, and at least it means I'm visible in the winter.
As for the tight spot, how safe is it to ride? Was planning a trip from Bournemouth to Portsmouth on Tuesday to where my brother lives (who has a faired curvy), where we could give it all a proper check over up on stands.

[vulture mode] WELL, if you do change your clocks, just you remember lil' ol' Missyburd who put the idea in your head  ;) [/vulturemode]

Apparently when riding I don't need exhausts to make my bike look good from behind....
....no idea if above is true as I wouldn't know but couldn't resist!

welcome to the org :)
that is a beautiful SV.. make sure you get a belly pan for it ;)
Nothing wrong with yellow, I think it will look great with a belly pan and a good clean.
Loving the Yellow & twin cans. Looks like a nice Curvy. You'll have fun planning the upgrades. Send some more pics when get the extras (belly pan, twin heads, etc).
Upgrades shouldn't be what this bike is for though, it's a cheap runabout/downgrade!
Some upgrades aren't just for cosmetic purposes though - Bikini conversion & rear hugger have practical advantages.
Oh yea definitely, and the new headlights will stop me from wanting to push the bike over.
But, none of it is needed!

Nice bike!
Word of warning leave the baffles in as them pipes will get you a pull!
I will be leaving them in, don't worry. Although I may have to remove them and give it a rev
Today I went out to get a better look around.
I started off with taking that rack off. I was looking at getting a top box, but for now ill leave it off.

I then took a look at some of the corrosion underneath where the rack was.

Not the greatest, but could have been a lot worse. This is only a winter bike/temporary solution.
The lack of rear hugger is something that needs to be addressed.

I like it.
especially the twin outputs.. :0)
Thanks.
Oh I've only just noticed that it doesn't say Suzuki on the tank! Is it worth getting the stickers to fit myself, or is the cleaner look nice? Personally think it needs more black.

Get the silver badGe Suzuki , what the newer models have . U'll see what i mean
Yea I know what you mean, used to have one on my old GS500. Just not sure it would fit in with the retro look of the curvy.

If it is just a winter bike I'd not bother with the stickers!
Well it's being labelled as a winter bike in my mind, but the reality is that it could well last a bit longer than that. I'm hoping to upgrade to a sportsbike again in the spring, but that's just a plan.
