Just an idea, but how about (as everyone except Simon has a job) trying to get it sorted on a weekend?;):smt115
tried to do some of it myself and got as far as removing the cover and clutch mechanism and got confused. oh dear.
Ive wd40d the fook out of everything in the vain hope it'll make everything come easier.
If simon cant come over tomorrow then yes nathan the weekend could be the answer
Clutch mechanism?! What are you changing???
Im following the haynes manual and it said to disarm? I( i think that was the word) the clutch linkage (just two bolts) assumingly it gets in the way of the front sprocket
yes, unbolt it and move it out the way

Yeah that's the work drive, enjoy putting it back on. Oh and DO NOT PULL THE ROD OUT WITH THE WORM DRIVE!!!
FYI, its easier to loosen the front sprocket while the rear and chain are still on, also be sure to flatten out the locking washer... And be sure to bend it back at the end because it really does matter.

As said, I'm not around this weekend, so I can't be involved in tutorial filming and if you want the riveter, you'll have to get it tomorrow!

Can lend some Dave if you like, Job popped over yesterday and I think he may be thinking picking me up on route to yours?
I do have a mate from work coming over either sat or sun so I can change his brakes, depending on when he want's it done I am available.

Yeah that's good by me
'Can lend some Dave if you like, Job popped over yesterday and I think he may be thinking picking me up on route to yours?' Do you mean en route to mine?
And Simon could i pick it up at midday tomorrow, taking my mum to hospital so its good timing

It ain't what you post! It's the way you type it!
Your work? Could not care less! My work can cause me serious discomfort if they feel the need, hence me leaving!:smt040
All I am saying is you ask for help and then place time constraints on when? Everybody has other stuff to be doing, so show consideration and make provision with said employer so you can say "I need help, when is anyone available"? Once you have concise responses, organise with work the necessary spare time!:smt019
I only pointed it out because job had hinted at an early start, which wouldn't clash with work or whatever else at all, then you said you were going to be available later on. Didn't want us to have constraints which is why i bought it up (start earlier, no hassle).
Point taken however.

Well happy for him to pick me up early but you may end up being supervised by a drunk and mocking Thunderace!
Right, so what time is this starting Jammy. 12, or earlier?

Did you get it done?
Chain and sprockets were done. The Clutch mechanism where the worm gear is came apart when Jammy took it off. Trying to find out how the mech works, so we can get it back together. Currently the worm drive isn't moving the push rod-trying to find out how the 2 'connect' to see if something has come out.
Did you find anything out about that job?
I have a feeling were missing something very simple haha
I've got a haynes that covers the old curvy if you need one. I assume it's not that simple but it's here if you need it.
we were referencing my Haynes Markus, It says everything except exactly how the worm drive connects to the pushrod (or so we think). Cheers though!
Not yet Jam, going to take mine apart this week and see what its like. Mine is in one piece and much cleaner ;) easier to see what's going on!!!!

I know on my gixer there is something mentioned in the Haynes along the lines of "don't dismantle the clutch mechanism because it's a pain in the **** to put back together"
yeah it fell apart. Looks like the ball bearings are missing, and you can only buy a whole new unit. It's only about £40 though, so not too expensive.
