View Full Version : EAR Locations?

I think it best to get a list of where (roughly) everybody is, as the absolute central location will make more convenient thus more likely for people to meet!

Please edit accordingly:

Thunderace - Thetford
svrich - Lowestoft
kellyjo - Peterboro'
kaivalagi - Norwich
mish53 - Ipswich

Beginning to think Red Lodge is probably damn near central?

Any other suggestions?

We really are a spread out bunch!:( Well I'm thinking you guys and gals have already got this central thing worked out! Red Lodge does seem to be there or there abouts.

So hows about this, due to distance between members I think we need to find other meet points for rideouts so we can increase the frequency of rideouts and the numbers of people turning up? So some weekends a few have a long ride to a meet and the next time the opposite?

eg: Hunstanton for those on the coast, Red Lodge for me, kaivalagi and skip, somewhere near Peterboro' for kellyjo and somewhere in or around Ipswich for mish53 and suzukigt380paul, maviczap you would prefer the Ipswich area too I presume?

Just throwing some ideas out there trying to make sure no one ends up always being the one hacking miles to a meet.;)

Any and all suggestions welcome!:smt115

Please don't worry about trying to include me, it is highly unlikely that I will have any Saturday or Sundays where I haven't got the kids or work! Doesn't mean i don't still love you all though :-) xx

Places weve headed to before that work well:
Hunstanton
Southwold
Red Lodge

Rides between red lodge and the coastal places would work well and could be varied easily.

Some could meet at one end and some at the other maybe, doing a leg of the journey with everyone?

Ipswich to Peterboro' services 2 hours
Ipswich to Wymondham 1hr 30 mins
Ipswich to Norwich 1hr 30 mins
Ipswich to Thetford 50 mins
Ipswich to Lowestoft 1 hour
Ipswich to Felixstowe 20 Mins
Ipswich to Bedford 2 hours
These from experience at road legal speeds ... I don't want any more tickets / speed awareness things and my employer gets mad at me :-(
I tend to stick around 70 on duals - I have a nekkid bike and am old(ish).

Ipswich to Red Lodge - 1 hour ( estimate ) maybe a wee bit less .

OK then! Will be posting a rideout as soon as I touch down in Norfolk, I do have a reputation for being fairly swift, but that is usually down to others thinking they're quick and needing to be taught otherwise!

I promise I'll behave! Unless we end up in North Norfolk, coz that is where I learnt to ride and I remember those roads well!

May be organising a GM visit to the EAR next summer, those boys and girls are rather rapid!;)

Ride as fast as you like, I'll be 5 mins behind :-)
North Norfolk is nice if the tourists are off the roads , Wells to Cromer , Cromer to Sea Palling, to Acle , to Reedham ferry ( pint ) , to Beccles ( Mac D ) .. tis part of a run I do twice a year, 200 miles round Suff/Norf .

Thunderace

Oh dear me no! Not the touristy b****cks! I'm talking West Dereham, Barroway Drove, Leziate, Gayton, Boughton, Stoke Ferry, Feltwell, Southery, Wimbotsham, Wereham, Methwold, Cranwich etc, if it aint twisty it aint fun!;)

Yeah, Rob on here showed us the Gayton road a while back, that whole area is nice for it. You'll have to start posting up some nice routes through google maps to show us some good routes that we can try out!

The roads out towards Southwold ain't bad either...

If you pass your southern boarder give us a shout as your only 22 miles out from me.

And i'll be 15 minutes behind you!! If I was riding at my fastest I could just about keep up with these guys but ive got slower with age (and much reduced mileage) and would have no chance now, well I could do it but would find it worrying and not a pleasure, and thats not how I want it to be.

How can I forget Gayton Road? When we got to the end my battery was bubbling and my reg/rec was close to bursting into flames :smt096

Yeah, we don't want any more of that, you current bike is not so finicky right? Or is it still in bits?

You know, if you can't make any ride outs we could always descend on your place for a cuppa or something?

I think it's fine now, im planning things so i can get out for a while in the week to be sure!!

You guys are welcome around here anytime or if not i can try and get over to red lodge to meet for breakfast one Sunday even if i can't do the rideout after.

This is what I like to see, chat about possible rides and meets gets everybody's juices flowing, before you know it the EAR will be tearing up the countryside every weekend!:D

Thunderace

I'm in but won't be up that way for a couple of weeks yet!

Put the bike away for winter?

You should see the Ace, fairing made of gaffer tape and cable ties, as for the rest most of it's wood and the rest is rust!

my fairings are mosty plastic, never thought about making them with paper mache
but to be honest, the good bikes are away for the winter, well lets face it my 929 has never ever seen salt before and only been in the rain twice, the others arn't as mint, but the 600 bandit does the brunt of the winter riding, and has got its fair share of rust, and between now and april i will put atleast 2k on its clocks

So it seems so far that the EAR is South heavy and red lodge may not be the most central? This needs discussion to solve meet non attendance from the peeps furthest away!

Can the map in the sticky section not be cleared and updated? It would be easier to see who was where and still active.

What with the EAR being a pretty vague geographical area, and with me and one or two others only just over the border into Essex ( I can see Suffolk on a clear day if I stand on Jumbo), I could think of myself as a member.

;)

Thunderace
06-11-12, 05:52 PM
Will have to survey the area for a meet place with surrounding twisties and facilities for tea and bacon butties and such!

That might encourage me to turn up more if you'll be their messie, so i know someone isn't a scary strange bloke :p

So after investigation, it appears Bury St Edmunds is the centre of the EAR, however Red Lodge is only a few miles away so seems the central point has already been found.

Still think moving meet points from time to time is the way to go, as Red Lodge is a 10 min trip for me but quite a trek for others!

BTW Messie Red Lodge is in Suffolk, but I see your point it is quite a trek from Colchester to meet up before a rideout!

Unless its a different Red Lodge it's only Newmarket .
But if your only used to short hop's it might seam a long way???
