I did this to myself last w/end, its still not that good.

Been checked, had an x-ray they said nothing broken. I was wondering how long in general it takes to heal enough to walk ok, swim ect? Its still swelled up on the right foot where, I rolled it I have a golf ball in place of my ankle bone.

I'm just bored, can't really drive, missing a party ect apart from that I feel fine:cool:

Depends upon the person TBH

The damage to my hand (ligament and tendon damage to the carpel area, dragged down the road by the bike) the pain and swelling went down in about 3 weeks and full movement without pain (at the extreme of the movement) is up to a year. I was using my hand more or less normally within 2 weeks.

PM LPH she's been on crutches and moon boots for a while

Did same thing three weeks ago, taking glucosamine and its now nearly there. Keep taking anti inflammatories.

Seriously sprained mine 7yrs ago, don't want to worry you but it has given way and sprained several times since, I can no longer run without a support on my ankle!:( And it throbs like buggery in the cold, still doesn't look the same as the other!:( You should be feeling fine in a couple of weeks, but beware of twisting it again.

Most important thing is don't rush it. Bones heal better than ligaments do, and there
are several different degrees of spraining based on severity.

As you did it last weekend ice and elevation will only do so much now. Take it easy, and when you think you're ready do light exercise. Swimmings not a bad bet.

Ive permanently weakened my right ankle thanks to football. Regret rushing back into it a few times after
sprains, and probably did long term damage for the sake of not waiting 4weeks or more extra.

Thanks guys, well hopefully the swelling will go down over the next week there is still lots brusing. Using ice is actually helping, I bought a big bag of ice so I'll use a bit more of it. Well me intial though of letting it heal was the right thing to do, I just wish it would hurry up.

So what did I learn from this? I should have gone in the garden, it would have been a lot safer:lol:... (yes many where!)

Rolled my ankle when 23.. Did the tendons in.. That was 24 years ago and it's never been the same. Very very week and stopped me playing football again ever. It can "pop" again anytime even if I stand on a pebble the wrong way.. Usually at least once a year I end up incapacitated for a week.. And the pain when it happens makes your teeth ache!!

Hope yours is not as bad as mine and heals well, then again I am a tough northerner so pain like mine would probably kill a softy southerners like you Darren..

Much love and GWS. ..

Just rest it tbh and as above ice it. I have some gel packs I got off ebay I use one warm and then put the cold on and alternate the 2. Its meant to help because of the stimulated blood flow or somthing like that. try not to mince around on it for weeks but try to walk normally on it. I found that by trying to protect it you hurt you other leg on the knee or hip
