View Full Version : Is this the future?

Look at this ridiculous contraption. It's basically a one wheel Segway. I don't fancy braking really hard on it, but it's definitely interesting!

Two conflicting opinions. Either Gav or Nathan is mega lame. You can work it out amongst yourselves. :D

Thats no fun you cant wheelie it

No it's not, Nathan hasn't thought it through enough. With one wheel it couldn't accelerate or brake nearly hard enough.

I was thinking more of the 1/2 mile commute to work.:smt026

I always figured you accelerated the whole way there anyway.

If the tech advances enough it'd be possible for it to accelerate mega hard. Basically it'd tip forward until your face was about to hit the concrete and then accelerate like a ******* to get you upright again. It'd be like a roller coaster. Similarly, braking with a fist full would have you looking up at the clouds as it leans you right back. At least if you crash in that instance you're already on your back 1 inch from the ground!

I think you may have missed the point, it just looks fun to play with, if I want to accelerate and brake hard I'll take the Ace.

You mean there's times when you DON'T want to accelerate and brake hard?

Of course, if I did it all the time I'd spill my beer!

does look fun but braking would be weird sensation like one of the spring horse things in a park.

could always put a small wheel on the front and back like stabilizers for accelerating and braking.

Then you're not trying hard enough.

On the AR I got assaulted by wrath children (with the assistance of criggers) and knocked flat on my back without spilling a drop.

Whilst riding?

No, but that's hardly my fault.

A little bit of acceleration an d deceleration is nothing compared to a tumble backwards not the floor, that's just a matter of tilting the glass to compensate for the velocity change.j

Cheers pal.

Hmmm like the idea but don't like it personally, wonder how long the battery would last and when braking hard, cornering ect....

This.

Looks like a giggle, but fundamentally flawed.

Once again seems like peeps are missing the point, it's a toy, not a bike, it's a unicycle with an electric motor? Where is the confusion? Am I the only one with eyes?

I'm assuming it operates similarly to a segway, under acceleration leaning forwards under braking leaning back, neither of which will be done with great force, or you will end up bruised or broken.

Wrong it is rather difficult on a bike! Try it!

I do remember sailing once off the coast of Sweden in force 7 gales, we hit one wave so hard that my entire cuppa soup left the mug in one peice and hit the ceiling. No amount of tilting would have stopped it! Unless of course I suddenly developed cat like reflexes and in a split second inverted the mug then righten it thus not spilling a drop, but not likely IMO.

Mine too but you all seem to be comparing the two, and not noticing that they are not the same?

I've noticed, one is much worse without increasing the fun factor.

I can do it with a McDonald's cup but then that has a lid.
