OMO: Cooker Hood Ventilation

The above is my house, arrowed is what used to be the cooker hood vent.

Bit of history, we have lived here for 11 months now and when we moved in the kitchen had not long been refitted, only this week I have realised that the cooker hood is not vented and is causing the paint to peel on the newly painted ceiling.

Now the new hood is much further along (2-3 feet) from where the existing vent which as it is now is behind a cupboard and added to which it routes through my neighbors garage (they were nice enough to let me snoop around in their garage to find it) I have arrowed the vent on their garage and also the strip of wall I was thinking of bringing new vent through, only trouble is the felt on their garage roof run up my wall aswell.

I obviously want to vent this pretty shiny and I imagine expensive cooker hood.
1. Do I go through the wall between the garage roof and cladding or do I come through higher up and just modify the tiles as per the boiler flue pictured and arrowed below.

Mine cant vent as there is no route, but I found it had not been fitted with the (aparrantly optional) charcoal filters, that sit between the big sucky fan and the outer chrome cosmetic filters. I bought an ebay copy and fitted it in, seems to work ok and not dirty or damage the ceiling. Just a thought.

Carbon filters don't get rid of the water vapor .

Circulatory extractors MUST have carbon filters in, it's not optional, it will be completely useless without them.

They work reasonably well but not as effective as one vented to atmosphere.

I'm on my phone so can't comment on the potential routing ATM, but you could add an additional vent on another external wall, which would help draw dirty air out in unison with the extractor.

Well I guess it must be an option at purchase, because mine didn't have one, and I phoned Bosch and they told me its not required if vented, so I guess the kitchen fitters took the money saving route

Water vapor is the biggest problem, as I say there is enough to cause the paint to peel away from the ceiling, I just thought, I could use the existing vent and use the oblong ducting to go up behind the cupboards just needs the notches cut out the shelves inside, then I could run along the top of the cupboards and down onto the hood.

Can a flue run go down as well as up as it is not hazardous just hot air and vapor

I think what specialone is saying is they are not needed if vented to atmosphere, if they are recycling air back into the room as mine is atm then they need filters, just for the record mine has nothing either.

I wouldn't be routing it through third-party property (garage) if it was me. What happens if they sell up?

It was like that when we moved in, apparently their's routes through their neighbors garage on the other side, obv done when they were built.

Think I will try and make use of the existing vent rather than making more holes.

Going through tiles is hard enough when they are new.. The soon get brittle .
Yes the duct isn't the best . But given the alternative I know I'll be doing same as you
