View Full Version : What's with the U rating?

Keep seeing posts with links removed and comments relating to them, but i have no idea what its all about as some hyperactive mod has removed the link due to it containing content which may embarrass a nun. Fair enough, rules is rules.

So my question is - given that the forum is highly unlikely to have young uns on and I don't see many 12 year old sv riders about day to day -

'why is there not a higher rated part of the forum?'

Obviously i can just go elsewhere for my smut, but i dont know a lot of the folk that are on here, outside of here. Plus i quite enjoy the sense of humour of these things that are posted if i get to them in time. As an adult registered member (adult part debatable) why am i not allowed to see this 'adult'* content

*'adult' refers to the level of language readily shown in many 12a/15 films

Tbh I find the u rating daft at times, but doesn't bother me to much and I respect Johns wishes to keep it u-rated

See http://forums.sv650.org/announcement.php?f=116&a=60

the u rating is to keep us muts in line. i'm all for it or it ends up like other forums such as visor.... and such like.

So occasional natural nudity doesn't breech the 'U' rating eh?

What constitutes un-natural nudity?

I like it because it is nice, especially with my potty mouth. :D

Personally, I think it's good, I also like the fact we don't have childish insults being banded around like some forums.

U rating is as important as not allowing too much text speak, that f**king winds me up :smt092

Also many people use the forum at work, and therefore it has to be safe for such use.

Based on the TV 30 Zulu boobies are fine but not one of Janet jacksons.

My 5 year old climbs into my armchair with me most evenings within full view of the laptop screen. If the forum wasn't U rated I wouldn't be able to use it until he'd gone to bed.

Well there you go, there's plenty of other smut all over the internet so why do you need it on here as well?
Also as pointed out it keeps the Org work safe and some of us do have kids who may see the non U rated content over our shoulder etc etc

As mentioned in the OP, I like the sense of humour of the folk on here, I don't mind the U rating for the most part and I think its a positive in terms of moderating posts. Its just when external links get removed due to someone on youtube using naughty language. Never really thought about the folk with kids, good point well made.

Oh and whoever is on the forum at work...stop being idol and actually do some work

The Type R forum I go on has a "Private Lounge"

It's a separate part of the forum which can only be read by approved members

While the main forum has a U rating, in the private lounge almost anything goes. It is however mainly full off pictures of boobies which to be honest if that's what I wanted to look at a car forum probably wouldn't be my first port of call.

Just a suggestion though.

This is exactly the point, this is a primarily a biking forum and as such we focus on biking, of course I think everyone recognises the social aspect and that's what the non biking sections cater for. If boobies and screamy sweary oneupmanship is required, Visordown and other such pathetic 'my CBGSZXR1-1000,000,000' is faster than yours' sites are already there. The 'U' rating just means that all content is suitable to all possible visitors, it's simple, it's straightforward that way.
