Sometimes you can smell the diesel, but its too late by then. Both as bad, diesel will cover a larger area as its thinner and disperse more imho

Diesal is oil(gas oil) and its all best avoided.Im sure lube oil is more slippery, but when the bike and rider are sliding down the road the subtleties of friction coefficients are largely lost in the foul language.

You get nicer rainbows with diesel .
But you notice it when its wet and your face is 3 inches from the tarmac.

By taste although its probably the least of your worries by then.

If its shiny, on the road, and not water, you need to be worrying.

Best thing to do is wait until you're on it and swerve violently. Not only is this the safest way to deal with the hazard but then you can accurately gauge it's friction coefficient.

You forgot to mention either grabbing the break or violently twisting the throttle. Sideways force alone isn't enough to accurately estimate grip.

Also the HM Customs duty rates are different between oil and gas oil, make sure its not red diesel, that's big trouble ;)

Its quite easy to tell the difference between the red and normal diesel, ones red :D

Diesel smells.

Generally "I'm sure I can smell di... FOOOOOOOOK" is how it goes.

Oil much the same just without the smell bit.

With the amount of rain we have had here I think it might have washed off by now.I am more concerned with how deep the puddles are.I have to drive across a three foot stream outside my house which is the gutter.

You're getting forgetful in you old age, that's your moat to keep the ravaging hoards away from your pots of gold ;)

Don't forget to raise the drawbridge at night when you go to bed :)

Diesel smells.

Can't say I notice it smelling when I'm riding? I just look for pretty rainbows.
