They parked next to it so you could see the side of the van, but they opened the side door where we couldn't see, I'll get some more CCTV tomorrow at work, but you could never see it being lifted in

I used to live in Middleton... well, the posh bit, Alkrington garden village. However we ended up moving back to Liverpool because we were sick of being burgled, the shed being broken into and general scumbaggery with people stealing plant pots from outside etc.
And to think Scousers get a bad rep

welcome to the uk buddy!
Oh... and the worst bit? They (the 'bizzies') picked up some lads who'd just stolen a car and when they searched one of their houses, they found my car keys and documents that were in my car when they stole it after breaking into my house. However they couldn't prove anything as the lad just said he'd found them on a field. :o

Wow, and you only just got the little Zzr too!
One of the reasons why my oh started using the car more for work instead of his zzr14. Middleton is absolutely dreadful, until they moved premises to somewhere else, I hated him taking the bike.

Gutted for you mate - take it you didn't have a chain or an alarm?
I leave mine unchained at work as it's a barrier-entry car park but that's obviously no deterrent if they're on cloned plates. Might start locking it up more often - will keep an eye out for that Transit.

"My guess is Eastern Europeans" Not only racist and xenophobic, but plainly sad. Read some statistics about committing crimes per capita/nation and then entertain us with your bulls**t. While you're working, you know doing an actual job to buy the things you want/like, they feel they can just come and take it from you like that. Where do these people get this complete lack of respect from.

Don't bother mate. You did well getting a visit this week. There's no cops left out there to go to jobs like this.
If you gave the van reg. when you reported it, then it'll be on my ANPR hotlist the same day, so we'll go after it if it's seen. Same goes for the bike reg.
Apart from that, what's to do? The tech to enhance the footage exists only in Hollywood. Again, there's no bodies left to do it even if there was the tech!
I'm on nights so I'll keep my eye out. I've chased a members stolen SV before and recovered it, so you never know...
Sorry to be negative, but that's what's left of the Cops now.

Too true. All the more reason for bugging the MP.After all its ultimately them that cuts the polis back.
Guess we could see how useful these new police commissioners are sooner rather than later - I'd guess they should be your port of call before your local MP

Yes too true BP, your force is one of the ones cutting loads of staff, front line and backroom staff if I remember correctly.
Plus you're all doubling up as social workers, drug councilors and home helpers if '999 whats your emergency' is the same in every town, which it probably is

Its terrible service without a doubt. However, this is unfortunately what the government are reducing the force to. Its not right for victims of crime though, and if I was on the end of it, i'd be furious. I've tweeted it on Twitter to spread the message.
Speaking as someone who ran a motorcycle shop less than half a mile from one of the country's largest concentrations of travellers, I'd very much doubt the people who stole this bike are "Jippos".
In a year of being there I had two groups of traveller lads walk into the shop, and neither of them had the first clue about bikes. Travellers just aren't interested in motorcycles, full stop.
Now the Gypsy community has had a bad rep in the past and has its faults as far as thieves are concerned, but I'd be very surprised if these are gypsies or any other travellers. A lot of the time they steal stuff they can weigh in for scrap and the hard truth is a bike doesn't give them enough income to make it worthwhile. A car makes them a damn sight more money and is just as easy to take.
White Transit vans are owned by all manner of dodgy b'stards because they blend in everywhere you go. You find them on posh estates, rough sh1thole areas, industrial estates and just about everywhere you care to mention. Another factor is, you can clone any number of them very easily with a few sets of number plates and give your vehicle the choice a few different identities in a matter of a couple of minutes.

Sorry to read about your bike.
Why was the barrier to the car park in your works yard not down? That may have stopped the van getting into the car park in the first place?

its one of the worst feelings ever having a bike nicked. I had my gsxr k7 stolen 2 months back in the same way parked in the work car park and it was lifted into the back of a van and gone. no one saw anything and I was the first to realise it had gone as i arrived back at work. Truly gutting.

That'd be a great idea if you could refine it. Would sale like hotcakes.
I thought about writing an app that you can set times that your bike shouldn't move e.g. 9-5, and if it does send a notification and location, just not got the time.
Would be difficult to refine as far as making sure the app knows when credit in the PAYG sim is running low etc.
Galviniser
28-11-12, 08:14 PM
That's what my tracker did, when the bike was turned off and moved it sent a message to me of its location and if you. Rang it it sent you a message of its location. It also sent a message when credit was low too, I'll find it and find what it's called if you like
