View Full Version : damn' deer
On our little unplanned rideout today Tommor had a bit of a meeting with a deer (down the A339 near Alton) and came off, Luckily he is OK (maybe a cracked rib). In the ambulance later on was smiling and having a giggle at his own misfortune ( Lad :smt038 )
Bikes not so happy though, im sure pictures going to go up soon. Lets hope Tom heals up quick!

No photos of the deer. I think rudolf dragged himself off into a field to die. Bike has knackered right side mostly, including pegs, throttle + lever, light cluster, bent forks etc.

He's fine, he was just trying to score drugs off the ambulance guys. As soon as he realised he wasn't going to get any he was jumping around like nothing had happened.

Seriously though glad your OK mate but take it from me that rib is gonna hurt like hell next time you sneeze!
I'll take you pillion on the next ride!:riding:

You should have got the deer and bungee'd it to the back of Si's bike, then I could have made you a lovely venison casserole with horseradish mash and slow cooked red cabbage. Really warms you up.
Im so hungry. Damn you Peahead
Ouch! Fingers crossed bike is not as bad as it looks. Is that the A339 on the way to/from Basingstoke?
A339 Alton-bound, about a mile before the junction which takes you into alton if you head straight on or loomies if you turn right

It's worse.
One of the forks looks bent, the rear plastics are cracked tank is battered, radiator holed...Plus everything you can see.
Done a bit of a number on it overall. And he didn't even get the number of the girlie who stopped to help.
On the plus side the light protectors escaped almost unscathed.
Damn, sounds like the bike had a good tumble down the road and not a slide. This is why nature is dangerous!!!
Hopefully it can be salvaged for not too much money.
What I have learned today. I hate deer Tarmac hurts and good gear will save you! I'm ok. Bike is fecked and I hurt but it's nothing that can't be fixed!

I came tearing round a corner in Chiang Mai, lovely smooth tarmac, sweeping left hand bend, agggghhhhh what are all those bleedin' elephants doing in the road, not even walking in single file!?! Not a high viz vest on any of them either.
Then 2 days later I nearly ran over a big snake that decided to wiggle across the road. I know they are deaf so wouldn't hear me coming but the stupid thing could have looked before slithering out of the verge.

Nope, Dave the Sv was the black one. Look in my photo album in my profile entitled my bikes.
Nice photo of Gore :)
What you are supposed to do is aim for the hind quarters, that way you hit the guts, and they explode, thus allowing you to carry on riding at speed, and arriving at you destination safely with only fur and guts attached to your bike, and no damage to either of you.
The only time my yellow SV has been involved in any sort of accident is when its fallen off the sidestand.
Bambi on the other hand:.........dead, left in the road for the entire AR07 attendees to ride past and laugh, at it being carved in half. Nobody fancied it for dinner.

You could have loffted the front wheel for the snake .
Might have been a bit tricky were the elephant was concerned!!

It was a bit. Only had the bike four weeks and that happened. Mind you a week or three after that I did 2000 mile trip over in France. Bike did fine, surprisingly 60mph squash damaged nowt.
Well, apart from when I got back and changed the fork oil, there was a slight crease in one fork leg.
Lucky I'm not dead, and the witnesses didn't have a heart attack!
Just seen this, sod the bike at least your in one piece. Good excuse to get a GSXR front end on anyways

What you really need is Bender from Futurama. He'd do it for some engine oil and a beer.
Why not just reverse over Jammy at speed? He's probably about the same weight and build as the average puny deer so in theory if you hit him at the same speed everything should bend back to where it was. We could get Fallout to video it as part of his next how-to.
What could possibly go wrong?
Actually you may need a couple of assistants to throw him between your wheels as if you just reverse over him you may end up with him wrapped around your new rear shock and I suspect he'll be a bit tricky to hose off.
We can sort the details nearer the time......
Actually a mate just sent me this .... Maybe a more seasonable front-end mod....

This one is going the wrong way down a one way street. There is more chance of spotting a wild rampaging deer in Chelmsford High Street than the H2 bus at this stop, so unreliable is the service to my part of town.

Apparently it was last seen heading towards the A12 where they set up road blocks but didn't manage to catch it. It's now lurking in a hedge waiting to see if Tomor comes out for the Essex ride in August.

2 cars and one Muntjac written off.
Was worried I was about to inadvertantly cause something similar yesterday. Walking the dog down a footpath near my estate I saw something small coming towards us. From the colour I first thought it was yet another off-the-lead Staffie (did not have my glasses on so it was fuzzy) but then realised with relief I was not about to have yet another doggie fight to separate. The Muntjac saw us, stopped, ran back the other way, decided it did not like the narrow exit to the pathway and proceded to hurl itself at the chainlink fencing on both sides of the path. Finding a gap it shot into a building site carpark before sprinting across a road heading for the trees of the nearby park. Closed my eyes as I waited for the screeeeeech-crunch but thankfully there were no passing cars. Stupid things!
