Ok so never owned one of these things before and although I'm one of these normally:

I would like a little tree to decorate and that's as far as my festive cheer is going to go. I blame YC for buying me a surprise advent calendar.
I don't have the time to trail round shops checking out bargains, or go through Ebay for that matter so thought I'd ask you lovely people.

Criteria:

Don't want a massive one, about 4ft be good.
Don't want to fork out loads on a fibreoptic one (but they are pwetty).
Pros and cons of a real one - don't like messy needles.

Fire away :-P

Was even thinking of making one of these for something different...

Just get a plastic one, it'll save you money and be more environmentally friendly in the long run.

More environmentally friendly than planting a real tree once Christmas is over thus allowing it to photosynthesise and hence contribute to the oxygen content in our atmosphere? I can only assume you're having me on ;):p

It is when the majority of real trees die due to being shoved out in the frosts from an overly warm environment.

If your one tree lives then yes it'll be a bit better, the photosynthesis might even offset the environmental cost of shipping you a new one next year and eventually your going to run out of space.

Got a 6ft black fibre optic tree from B&Q for £35 2 years ago. B&Q do seem to be just about the cheapest for chrimbo decorations/trees.

Fibre optic here too. It twinkles. Changes colour, looks tasteful, and it can have baubles if you desire.
Got it in a local garden centre, better than b&q.

Yours is probably better, but mine was probably cheaper! :)

Nothing beats the smell of a real tree! Well, except bacon. Maybe fabricate a tree from bacon.

Isn't it made mainly from soy? Soy, the bane of every man's diet, making breasts grow from every gland? No thanks. You can keep your estrogen thanks very much! :-P

Why not try the Festivus Pole (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus#Festivus_pole)? Mine shall be going up soon.

just buy YC lots and lots of beer so he can make a can tree. or have a party so we can staple him to the wall paint his tools lovely shades of bright colours and then hang them off him.
