I'd seen a lot of the clips before, the ones showing the few cyclists blatantly filtering without a care towards the end of the program were shocking, it's only a matter of time before they end up as road kill, I can see why cyclists get a bad name with people like around, riding on the wrong side of the road, one even cut a police car up on the opposite side.
The one clip where a reckless cyclist gets wedged between a bus and a pick up truck, zero sympathy from me tbh, he put himself in that area /danger when he didn't need to.

All very true.
The quote of the show for me was "they wouldn't do that if the had license plates"
It's only a matter of time before pushbikes have to pay to be on the roads, anyway then it'll be unpopular again. :-({|=

I have it on Sky+ so if it isn't on iplayer I can burn it a disc
It won't be long before the cyclist bashing members of the Org tune into this thread and label us with the same tag as all these commuters and dispatch riders.
I can't ever see cyclits paying to use the roads as it goes against what the Govenment is trying to do and get the people out of their fortresses of solitude and doing some much needed exercise.
Who'd police it and do the admin in a time where the govenment are trying to reduce govenment spending, it's a non starter as there's not even enough policemen about to do normal traffic work.
Some really carp driving and some really carp cycling. People on two wheels are there because they enjoy cycling/motorcycling and have chosen this mode of transport. Most people on four wheels are there because they have to get from A to B and they would rather be somewhere else and that's where their mind is, it's somewhere else.
If your on two wheels it doesn't matter who is a fault, all that matters is that YOU WILL come off worse.
90% of the time I would side with the cyclist but in London I'd say its 50/50

The first cyclist is a complete knob. Yes the cab was close but he wasn't ever in the blue cycle lane even when not overtaking slower bikes. He was looking for that argument IMO.

Agreed, he is a complete love organ the whole way through that programme and was kicking off as often as he could

Must admit I've changed my attitude to cyclists a bit now I'm on two wheels myself but with some of the idiots last night, it does paint a negative picture.
My biggest complaint about cycling on the roads in general is there is no official training, no guidance, nothing.
A complete novice with no experience at all of the road on/in any vehicle can buy a bike and start cycling on the road, to me that is a hazard waiting to happen.
No other vehicle on the road can be taken on there without some license or training etc, fair enough I know a big chunk of riders probably have a car or motorbike license so they know the road a bit.

My biggest annoyance with cyclists is when they take up formation three or so abreast on main roads! Maybe i'm just a big grump though.
Some of the caught on camera moments were pretty horrific, and I'm very glad some of the incidents (including the one on the roundabout with the artic, and they guy who got assaulted) turned out OK.
Some of the issues faced are much the same as for motorcyclists in London. Defensive riding is pretty key in these shared spaces. If you don't want a car to come past your handlebar with a few inches to spare, don't leave a space a few inches wider than a car beside you. The inevitable will happen, leaving you to argue about who was "right" after the incident. Just don't put yourself in the situation if you can help it!
The guy in the thick glasses with the smug attitude I could probably hit quite a lot without feeling guilty. The "Traffic droid" had poor defensive riding skills and a confrontational attitude. He then acted utterly shocked that people got aggressive with him.
I was actually pleasantly supprised how balanced some bits of it were

Actually I expected last nights program to be biased towards the cyclist but in fairness I thought it was a balanced view.

thats very true and not a point I can argue against. However...
Alot of cyclists also have car licenses and have taken to cycling for the commute. What I dont really understand is that when in their car they obey the rules of the road and then for some reason when they get on their bike everything they have ever learned goes out of the window.
And dont get me started on Cycling Ninja's...

i couldn't believe it either, i was really expecting it to be a programe bashing all road user with a motorised engine!
Actually I expected last nights program to be biased towards the cyclist but in fairness I thought it was a balanced view.
as above, drives me crazy what SOME cyclists do on the roads in london. i would never dream of getting on a push bike in central london and riding it on the roads, i think it's far to dangerous. 'tis bad enough having a fairly powerful motorbike beneath you, at least you've got the power to get out of trouble if you were to need to.
For anyone that missed it. This is the one that made me think it's not always the car driver at fault.
This guy is a complete doughnut

Thats epic (only because the cyclist survived).

You mean the guy that actually grabbed the guy who'd gone through a red light by his rucksack and pulled him backwards? Asking for a slap if you ask me.
Felt sorry for the woman who had lost her daughter to the cement lorry, amazed at the lengths she went to to improve driver safety etc,

True, but how many complete novices would you think would buy a copy, then read, absorb and abide by it if they didn't have to? Not many I reckon.

You DON'T have to.
You just need to pass your test.
Stopping distances and common sense will get you half way there.

Abit off topic but......
Turn 16 get your provisional you can drive a tractor weighing many tonnes, pull a trailer many more tonnes tractors are fast for their size nowadays to! No training whatsoever!! One major flaw in the system in my view.
The Gaz bloke needs a good slap. I know where he rides, Croydon, Elmers End and a like. The bit near the end where he was on a bridge in the middle of the road he is able to do 30mph down there but he thought it was better to annoy the drive and go 15 and blocking the road. What I want to know is why. Seemed to be looking for confrontation.
The rest seemed to be a place of looking for blame on who was right or wrong.

Seemed pretty balanced and although I've seen the majority of those videos before on youtube, It was good to hear each side of the argument.
Some of it doesnt make for comfortable viewing and I found myself going over my own accident from a couple of years back... which isnt nice.
I think it was the mum of the girl that died that said.
"Its a competition when it needs to be more of a co-operation"
Thats pretty much my take on it to. Theres some good and simple lessons there for all cyclists and it was good to see the piece about defensive riding and taking primary explained.
At the end of the day, there are complete ****s everywhere. Some drive, some cycle, some ride motorbikes, some step into the road ipodded up without a care in the world. Your mode of transport doesn't really change your attitude but it can dramatically change the implications of your attitude.
[Edit] I would like to point out I used a moderately bad word, not any of the extra bad words that could have fitted where the **** now is :)
Actually I expected last nights program to be biased towards the cyclist but in fairness I thought it was a balanced view.
Agreed! Nice to see a balanced show for once!
One thing I agree on though is about dominating the lane or line when required, something I often do on the motorbike. I hate it when I see moped riders or cyclists riding in the gutter, enticing cars to squeeze through.
That droid guy has gained over 700 subs over night on youtube, I can only dream of such publicity :P
