Ahahahahahah! Sleeper hot rod! With hind sight you can see the width of the rear wheels. That's probably around 1000bhp when you consider how comprehensively it annihilates the SV!

Yeah but if you weren't into cars you'd be like wtf! It is my mission to own a sleeper car some day some old rust bucket with a big 2.5 turbo lump or the like.

Defo. Minis (the old ones that were actually small) make good sleepers. You can put relatively small engines in them and make them go like stink, plus a cooper will handle well from the off. :)

Savage,I had a scabby old Cortina with a full race Lotus engine,2000e gearbox and a 3000GT rear axle which would not tick over below 2500rpm without trying to shake itself to bits. Good for about 140mph and went like **** off a shiney shovel------that made a few people take notice and loads of fun.

Thats what im talking about. A mate had an old audi can mind what it was possibly an a4 3.0 was a horrid shade of green but as he said was like a comfy man's evo, showed up many's a sunday racer in that.
If i had the money i would take one of these maybe not a sleeper car per say. But not many people know what they are the original GTR.

Savage, as a Skyline fan too, I also find myself drooling over the 300ZX. Just as timeless. I think that had a 3.0l twin turbo, but not sure how the stats compared to the gtr 2.6.

Never had any experience with the 300zx myself always been around the rb lumps. But i know it's kicking about the 280bhp mark. And the 300zx around the 300bhp mark i think. But as u'll know it's the way these things can go to the 500bhp mark with ease and above and beyond 700bhp if you have the cash. I miss my old skyline :(

Resto tune. Spec will be something like:
- 5.7l hemi rebuilt
- Ported and flowed
- Supercharger or turbo for good measure

This. There's a '62 body - but there's plenty bolted in that ain't anywhere near as old.

When I was working in texas in '97, I went to a few drag raceways, cars like that we're quite common, the body will be the only 'old' part on it.
Most will be running nitros, or alcohol.
I've got some footage somewhere on 8mm tape, I'll find it out and convert it.

which he then dropped a sunny gtir engine in

i had a lada riva complete with rust and dented door with a tuned 1300 engine, high lift cams, webers yada yada :-)
A mate of mine owned a Mk2 Cortina Savage, which was a pretty standard, rusting, dowdy looking 2 door saloon car with a Burton tuned Capri 3 litre GT motor and gearbox. It didn't even run flash wheels, just slightly wider steel ones from a Lotus Cortina with chrome hubcaps.
That car was bat-sheet mental.

Another mate Gus, who is now the sales manager at Bill Smith Suzuki in Bangor N.Wales, owned a Lada Riva with a 2 litre Fiat Mirafiori twin-cam in it.
He also fitted what we called 'smoke injection'. This was an old Austin Metro washer bottle and pump which was plumbed into the exhaust manifold. You filled the bottle with waste engine oil and when you hit the pump switch it squirted neat oil into the exhaust which created a massive smoke screen out the back of the car. We used to use it give our mates on bikes a bit of a chance of leaving the police for dead as we left Chelsea Bridge or Heston services on a Friday night.

Type r1 micra . I dont get what hes selling . Just frame and engine i think
When I was a lad (a few years back) my Mum had a firenza which was a slightly hot Vauxhal Viva but then for a while we have a Chevette HS ( I think it was an HS) anyhow it was a Chevette which was sort of the Micra of it's day with a 2.3 engine in it. However being the 70's all they did was stick in a bigger engine! Still had pretty much the same suspension, brakes and tartan interior. It was mental! We had a race-tuned imp engined husky too.
It's a wonder I made it through childhood.

The late Ollie Bridewell was working on a project of putting an R1 engine in an old Mini when he sadly went out for his last ride at Mallory Park B.S.B. in 2007. Brother Tommy and their family and friends got it finished and it did some parade laps in Ollie's memory at the B.S.B. Final round at Brands that year.
When I was a lad (a few years back) my Mum had a firenza which was a slightly hot Vauxhal Viva .
One of my first cars was a 2.3 litre Vauxhall Magnum Coupe, same body as a 2300 Firenza but the interior was better and mine had a twin-cam head. The guy I got it off said it was an ex-Met Police vehicle and the zip in the headliner, vinyl roof and holes in the dash where radio equipment had been screwed in backed him up. That was a stupidly fast car with rubbish handling and brakes. I swopped it for a really nice 1275 Cooper S which I still own.

I think i was there that day.
