Hi guys, thought I would say hi as a new SV650S K3 owner. This is my first motorbike after passing my direct access and I love it!
Having owned a very powerful car for the last few years I am looking forward to having some fun without a massive fuel bill!
Sadly its sitting under it's cover with this freezing weather so I can't wait for it to warm a little :)
A few pics;

I am near Guildford.
Uh oh! That means you'll want to stop by the Guildford Massive board and introduce yourself there. A bunch of frikkin lunatics, I tell thee! :D

Welcome, V-tidy bike that, but riding with the GM you'll be doing too many miles to keep it that clean!;) Keep an eye on the Guildford Massive section for rideouts, I do believe we are out and about this Sunday if your not bothered by the cold!:crutches:

Thanks for the welcome guys. Yeah I will have to get along to a GM meet soon!
Car is a 450bhp Toyota Supra twin turbo, not exactly a good winter vehicle either! :P

Car?
Bwahaha. Dan, how embarrassing for you son. ;) SVSUPRAnick, with a supra in the first picture, what is this high performance car your drive?! :smt115
Yea Dan. And you can see he chips it a lot too. Bags of chips there just waiting to go in. Jammy wouldn't have been so rubbish!
Welcome to the group. You get the prize for shiniest down-pipe. You now need to decide whether to keep it pretty or enjoy it. If you intend to ride it before about March, just cover anything metal (apart from brake disks obviously) in ACF-50, then ride it and don't clean it off again until the council stop gritting.
As others have said, keep your eye on the Guildford section for ride-outs. We go out in all weathers (well some of us do) If you fancy a ride and there's nothing posted, just post up a demand for a ride and one usually materialises. This is the usual Thunderace approach.

Oh bloody hell that's embarrassing hahaha, in my defence I did post that at like 5am after getting in from a night out...
Moving swiftly on...

How do you find the performance compares between the bike and the car?
I've beaten a modified Supra away from the lights before (and the wheelspin showed he was actually trying!) but I know an SV would be toast as soon as you got up to motorway speeds.

Thanks for the tip, yeah I will be riding in winter so I've ordered some ACF-50.
The bike is definatley quicker to 60 but after that the car would trounce it, probably a different story with the SV1000.

if you wanted something for speed you should get the GSXR

As a first bike? Might get some experience on something a bit more sensible first....
Definitely wise and an SV is enough for most!

Faster or slower, bikes always feel faster due to the imminent death waiting to greet you at every corner, drain cover, pedestrian, car, junction etc. Leave the gixxer for a couple of years! :)

Totally. I remember when we first went out on the road on my CBT - was papping it, couldn't believe the windblast, the vibration and how quickly the scenery was rushing past...
Then I looked down and saw the speedo was reading 27mph and there was a big queue of impatient drivers stuck behind me.

Your post Chris is very similar to on of my early posts where I was a little shocked by the power and in particular, the vibrations (I actually thought something was wrong).
You'll soon get used to it and the power. 8 months on and I am hitting the rev limiter :-/
Great bikes.

We already have 5 or 6 dads in the GM, 3 of which are actually CALLED dad, so Dad's are permitted. We have:
- Daddy Job
- Granddaddy Job
- Daddy Groom

Quick question, i want to change the indicator lenses to clear, are they the same on the pointy as they are on the naked, e.g will these fit? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-SV-650-K3-Naked-No-ABS-2003-A-Market-Indicator-Lens-Front-L-H-Clear-/140824298380?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item20c9c8438c&_uhb=1

Well done fella you picked a peach there. Thats in minty condition.
Yes to your indy question.
But what you want for xmas should be an exhaust. Even with a road legal baffle left in ([-( ) they sound fantastic at all speeds.Glorious.
Ease out the rubber intake snorkle on the airbox under the tank for a hell of an intake honk on big throttle openings. Delightful.
Both make fart all difference to the performance. But may stop dumb ped's stepping out in front of you!
Have fun.:)

Thanks for the advice mate. I would have thought the snorkel serves a purpose to duct the air into the airbox?
A better exhaust may be on next years wish list :)

Serves the purpose of keeping the noise down. Some folk take it out. Some folk swap it for the thou' one. Some folk don't like the noise so keep the OE.
2min job next time you are having a poke under the tank (it hinges up [-o<) and see if it puts a smile on your face.:)
I got my SV in June and it's been a belter. Takes no time to get to grips with it :) I'm in Weybridge, so not a million miles from Guildford. Might join you all out some time.
